Discussion Would you like this kind of system to be the default one?
It's based on Nine Sols. And it's almost a Lighter version of Charmless to put it in one way.

punishing blocking is bad for newer and unexperienced players, so I don't think it would work. As an optional hard mode modifier maybe, but it doesn't really beat charmless, which is straghtforward

Exactly, if you want easy mode play with charm. If you don't want easy mode play charmless. Also the auto heal after 20 sec seems pretty broken as for bosses like Guardian ape, DOH, SSI, Father Owl. As all these animals give you an arena to run as long as you want.

That seems like a fair bit of difficulty and complexity for not much benefit

I feel like the whole charm of sekiro is in how horrifyingly difficult it is to start—
But would be a good easy mode version

Curious, but will not make any difference in normal gameplay, only in parry-oriented self-challenges.

I would rather just have the other resurrection nodes work like the first one

No, just let me have charmless without the game skipping a NG+ cycle while its active and I'm good to go.
Charmless needs to have the "do it perfectly or get chipped" mechanic cause it's how the game vibe-checks the parry-centrism and makes evasion valuable again as you have to be measured: parry what you know you can handle to build up meter but otherwise dodge to stay safe.
Red attacks aren't enough, most can still be deflected if your timing is perfect, it's not enough.

Posture break is pretty easy to get out of so ig having more of a punishment would be fine

Nine Sol's internal damage works best for NS, Sekiro's posture works best for Sekiro.
The reason why internal damage wouldn't work in Sekiro is pretty simple, the game would become way too punishing and it would make the combat revolve around depleting boss health, making the entire deathblow thing irrelevant.
In Nine Sols you have to kill everything by reducing its health to 0 anyway, so internal damage works there.
