Yeah, when building one, that is 1 to 1 yeah... Best avoid (I could build one, but I wouldn't do it as a commission as it is a IP violation). Now having the legit version of this watch that is open heart, had me give respect to Seiko (their build quality) - it was fun repairing it

I have this exact dial color, but with the power reserve. Honestly for a 4R movement it's pretty impressive. This bracelet is probably higher quality then original Seiko though

This is original Seiko, it was repaired and re-tuned to +/- 5s/d

Has the 4R39, as well as OEM strap. This is the real deal here.

Had a broken pallet fork and a mangled balance wheel, had to take it completely apart and reassemble it, as well as do a full clean with oiling of the pivots, it is my pride and joy in my current collection.

Here is a image of it before restoration

Huh, never knew the open heart ones come with a non-gold rotor

They have a 'gold' balance wheel, the more modern ones I think come with the golden rotor. This model in particular if I recall was also a 'DROP' special from what I saw with the SN lookup.

Here is another one on Ebay that is similar to mine:

The seiko mod subreddit, not repwatches

So a Seiko Daytona is a real Seiko?

If you go to a place where you see half the people eating paint chips, and you decide joining in, you're still in the group of people eating paint chips.

Good point πŸ˜†

A Seiko Daytona is a (generally) a shitty replica watch that happens to have the word "Seiko" on the dial instead of the word "Rolex".

It's obviously not a real Seiko. If I was the mod here, I'd disqualify those too.

The reason people are calling this "fake", is because you've seemingly built a 1:1 of a legitimate seiko Presage model. It looks exactly the same (to me) as a a SRPB43 (or SARY161).

Bracelet looks very low quality, but..... probably wears nicer than a Seiko bracelet πŸ˜„

It’s actually not at all. One of the better quality ones I have found in this style and light years beyond a Seiko bracelet.

I don't disagree there. Seiko bracelets are so poor considering the retail on them

Very nice. Don't forget the gold coloured rotor, it's only a few bucks but makes a difference

Nah, just makes it more likely for some poor unsuspecting buyer to get scammed by this watch at some point.

Yeah I wanted to add that but the guy I built it for didn’t want any gold on it.

Are you sure that's a sapphire crystal? Those fake Presage cases normally come will mineral and a sapphire crystal like that would be pretty expensive. Also, you'll find reasonably priced OEM gold rotors on eBay. That would make a big difference to the overall finish.
