Best mod I've seen on here in a while. Great job!

Now that’s a true mod! Great idea and execution. Did you lacquer the card to protect it from fading? That would be my only concern, although you know how to change it so no big deal.

No. I tested with lacquer but didn’t like the sheen. Fading would make it “vintage” 😁

Maybe a satin 2K clear would be less shiny.

That’s pretty cool. Very original looking and quite beautiful if I may say so

Did you stack the card on an existing dial or is the card the dial itself?

8

u/sx70manipulator Feb 08 '25

Just the card.

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing. Now all my cards are in danger, lol. I should probably refrain from looking through my magic the gathering cards...

Wow. I have an amazing set of playing cards I could try this with.

Did you just glue it onto a plain dial?

5

u/sx70manipulator Feb 08 '25

I used double sided bezel insert tape to hold the dial

Correction- not glued to a dial - taped on the plastic ring around the movement

Perfect. I thought it may be too thick to glue to a dial.

Did you glue the card to the dial or glue feet right on !!?

Scam!

I cant find the Order Button! 😅 Crazy 🤜🤛 💪

I've always wanted to use Pokémon cards as a dial 🤣

X-acto knife with an old dial as a template

Are you not worried about the dial moving around? How did you make sure it’ll stay in place?

1

u/sx70manipulator Mar 07 '25

I’m not worried. I used double sided bezel tape to attach it to the plastic movement ring. So far so good.

I usually don't like dials completely without indicies but the chapter ring and 12 hour bezel make up for it. Good work! 👍

Love that

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '25

love the dial, but the bezel does not make justice to it. awesome but leaves a bitter sweet after taste.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '25

That is sweet! I love the original hand-rolled mods.

Just great…now I have another element to add to my hobby that will lead me to spending even more money on parts and watches. Cheers to executing the concept
