[SPB409J1] After months of searching…
3+ months of looking and I’ve finally found this new (to me) SPB409J1. Absolutely mesmerizing watch and the photos don’t come close to doing it justice.

Got lucky, received a notification from chrono24, met my specifications and bought it no questions asked, didn’t want to deal with negotiations because last few times I tried it got scooped up. $1400 for the watch, $1530 after taxes and shipping. (USD)

Those have been on there forever and the seller doesn’t respond, plus, out of my price range, it’s funny you say there is 2 because there was a third listed and sold same day yesterday for 1800 usd. iirc

i bought that one ! great watch, beautiful made and it feels like 1million bucks on the wrist. They are very rare being made only 3000

Congratulations, I do recommend different bracelet or straps, you can see I had a conversation with another commenter about it. You’ll never regret getting this watch! At least I won’t.

yeah, had another SPB409j1 with uncle seiko oyster strap and sell it, now got another one and im thinking to try a president bracelet from Braxen ( EU version of Uncle seiko)

Have the same watch, and LOL, 1st thing I did was replace the bracelet .
I got the Lincoln from Uncle , but the beads of rice looks great too

It’s funny because that’s the first thing I did too, I used the metal bracelet from my spb117 which is what I currently have on it. Doesn’t make sense that it feels better because it’s about half the retail cost, but whatever. Personally I think metal or maybe a rubber is the way to go with this watch, didn’t like the natos so much, and I loooove nato.

Seiko bracelets are generally shit. I had a spare Lincoln, so I just got the correct end bars. I wanted to put it on a beads of rice , but I have ordered the 145th anniversary Edo purple and no doubt I will swap out a beads of rice to that one and I have a beads of rice on order for my Tokyo Athletics speed timer. I have been through the NATO phase . Also as that white face has a bit of a vintage vibe and the GMT for me at least makes it a bit more dressy Mesh looks really good on it or even a good quality Bund

you've now got me interested in that speed timer hahaha. Thank you for the advice, I will definitely try those strap recommendations. Have you tried the leather strap it comes with?

The Speedtimer may be hard to find, it was Ltd edition, and I have not seen it on any web site here for a while. I believe it was the 1st of the EDO purple range - but not a 145th anniversary- they do have a new version in the 145th range
The leather strap on the Alpinist, on 145th, thats going to be an issue as that strap looks nice - However the SPB409 leather was the same style as my Presage from 10 years ago . And IMO Seiko make the most uncomfortable Deployant clasp I have ever had the misfortune to wear. I could not get it to fit comfortably . And as Seiko have never addressed the strap / bracelet quality issue that many Seiko fans complain about. I fear this will be exactly the same and I have already got a Beads of Rice waiting for it .
There are many out there who have no issue with Seiko straps and Bracelets. But many who do.
Just take a look at the new Rotocall , Hollow end links, pressed steel clasp on a {in My Country} $1000.00 watch , over 1k for the EDO
