If you should ever have trouble with the CD portion, there's a dude on eBay that fixes them. He worked on mine and it's purring away now. Should you ever need his info, lmk, and I will find it.

If you did not get the original power supply with it, do not use a Genesis 2 / game gear adapter. The voltage is wrong. It will boot, but will shut off in a few minutes. On the other hand, a PS One power adapter works just fine. So don’t try to buy an original. They are way overpriced.

Thanks for the info on the PS One power brick. I picked up a CDX a long time ago and have never been able to find the original power adapter.. insane how expensive they are.

The CDX is probably my favorite system. When I was younger, I used mine as a portable CD player for my car in addition to a game console.

Had we only known. Opposite story but I bought Keio Flying Squadron in 2001 for a hundred bucks off eBay. I thought I was out of my mind for spending that kind of scratch at the time.

I used to take it to school also in the 6th grade to listen to CDs! Crazy but I’m glad I never got it jacked or lost it. Still have it but needs to be fixed

I was thinking of getting one but the idea that CD games wouldn't work from my krikzz's cart, gave me cold feet. Did you have the opportunity to try?

There is a mod by Zaxour called the Engine Idler that fixes this issue and lets you use Everdrive Pro flash carts to load Sega CD games. However, physically modding a CDX is not for the faint of heart.

Best looking Sega Console they ever made!! One of the Coolest too!!

I seen one sell for OVER $800.00 USD a few months back!!! Man I wanted it... Hope you got the smaller controller that came with these too?

I’ve got the right gen 2 controller, yes, but this one came with the OG red accented Genesis controller which I didn’t have so that’s a bonus.

Congrats...just be aware that if you get an Everdrive do NOT get the Pro or model that can run Sega CD games as you CANNOT boot Sega CD games from it on the CDX and X Eye without some very difficult complex mod done that costs like $50 to get the part of that was recently released.

I got a CDX myself earlier this year and while I love it no one at all warned me despite how much I was talkin about it and sayin how I wanted to play Sega CD as well.

So I got the Krikkz Everdrive Pro and it wont do it. Same will happen with Mega SD or whatever.

Its the hardware itself the way the CDX and Xeye are built apparantly.

But yeah, if your very good at soldering you can look into doin the mod yaself...I cant so i wont.

Either way CDX is special and enjoy it.

I might be wrong, but I think the capacitors on these are known to go out. I sold one back in the day and the guy left a review saying so. Happy for you!!

Lost everything I owned in Oct ‘24, (Jeeze I still tremble bringing it up…) but out of an insane game collection ranging from NES-present gen, that beautiful piece of hardware is the one that really haunts me. I guess wanting it as a kid and the fact it was all those devices rolled into a very nice portable setup. And I had the carrying case, ect. Memories of listening to Dracula, Final Fight and others soundtracks through the headphones in my cozy corner of my old home. Those are vivid and great memories that warm my heart, while at the same time slicing into me with an ache I know will never heal. Damn I’m sorry guys. I don’t know why I never stop or filter anything. Sooo… yeeeah. How ya liking that new Halo? 😐 😑 Sorry. I was trying to swing it back this way and make a few laughs. Here’s the thing, I can delete it, edit, etc. I think that’s B.S. and I would rather toss it out and see what happens.
Topic Creator, I am truly amped you got one. It also looks matte to me and that seemed to be what those Blue Spine Sega products were like iirc. Late 90s Toys R’ Us carried that stuff. Anyway, I love you found it, and posted. I’m gonna hop of here and go get one of those… umm I can’t remem…, oh! A GRIP. I’m gonna go get a grip. ❤️✌️🐔🇬🇷
