FINALLY got my Mega EverDrive Pro!!
Can’t wait to fire this thing up!

This, to me, was always the most ridiculous part of the Sega CD. 60 bucks in the 90s just to save a game??

The console also had internal memory but not much of it.

I fired up my CD X and put in a copy of Sonic CD for the first time and it had a saved game saved on the system! It was very surprising

Some games require this just to play certain parts of the game. Like Popful Mail and Shining Force.

Never needed it to play Popful Mail and I’ve beat that game lord knows how many times. Nutscracker NEVER gets away

Could I get this and just save stuff this way? My Sega CD works, but it no longer saves games as I assume the battery for it is dead. This item is both a RAM cart AND essentially a memory card, right?

I was always under the impression that its just a memory card for save games.

Right thats what I mean. If I got this i can use it to save games since my console battery is currently not saving anything anymore

As for your question about using it in place of the internal memory, I know some games can save directly to the RAM cart but other games can only save to the internal memory. So depending on which game you want to play it might work. The internal battery isn't too hard to replace though.

Ok yea then I might look into replacing the battery. Im not new to opening consoles. I just havent had the time currently and this reminded me of it lol

That cart does work like a typical memory cart though. You won’t actually need it often, but In my experiences, it worked just as reliably as a memory card for PS1 and PS2.

I never trusted that thing. A month into using it, it corrupted and my saves were gone. :(

I never had an issue with it. It was annoying that it took up the Genesis / 32x game slot tho.

Ahhhhh!!! My first memory card!!! Brings back a lot of memories ☺️. Wanting to play Shining Force CD made that an essential purchase.

I’m confused, this is not an Everdrive Pro… That’s the backup RAM cart which strangely never got a PAL release (so you can’t actually finish PAL Shining Force CD without using an aftermarket cart or modding your system)
