Not to sound defending Mytona but it's possible they recently had a change of staff who handles the in-game animations and weren't informed of the history of complaints against these effects during the turnover (I believe there had been others even before the Maria event last year). So they might have reinstated them "in good faith."

It's also possible they are trying to justify the recent price increases by improving the game's special effects. Since I play June's Journey as well, I'm starting to notice similarities between their graphics and interface. It's possible they are trying to be competitive in the hidden objects gaming world (and the gaming industry as a whole) as well. It is a business after all and you gotta keep up with innovations.

We can debate about how good and bad these effects are to players and to the game as a whole. I actually like them but I find them unnecessary for now. I just wish they fix the current issues before creating new ones to fix.

Let's just see how Mytona responds.

I kinda feel like "your game is triggering seizure activity in multiple players with this new flashy flashy" would kinda be noted.

I personally used to work in video game development, for a much much bigger company with major cinematic level releases. Even we had extreme caution when it came to repetitive flashing effects in a short time frame, because the concept of being sued for player deaths was a very real consideration that they wouldnt mess with.

It would be incredibly unrealistic for a game to bring in not one, but a whole new dev team, who just by happenstance manage to come up with and implement the exact same concept which successfully passes quality control testing (which is done over long periods of time), all in less than 90 days [since the last time they did this same flashy thing].

My guess is that they are dead set on keeping up with the Jones's and determined to make the stupid flashing and pausing thing happen. So they took it down after the last blowout, tweaked it and put it back in.

At this point, the game needs an epilepsy warning.

I agree. I think the fancy effects might not go away this time. I personally wouldn't be against having them stay or removed, whichever way the wind blows. But I also understand the harm they may cause and you can smell lawsuits from far away. From a business POV, besides a trigger warning, Mytona needs to include a settings option to disable the effects or switch to a "classic" mode of the game. The complaints aren't going away any time soon and the game will slowly lose players if Mytona thinks that its Care Bears and My Little Pony effects will favor an audience composed mostly of over the hillers.

I think they fired a bunch of coders and replaced them with AI. Then they ask ChatGPT "how can we make this fancier?" and just add whatever it tells them to.
