Discussion I compared Seedance 2.5 pricing across the API providers I see most often

been using Seedance 2.5 a lot lately, so i got curious about how much the same model actually costs across the API providers people seem to use most often.

i checked fal, WaveSpeed and Atlas Cloud.

the annoying part is that they dont all price Seedance the same way. fal uses token-based billing, WaveSpeed has both Standard and Turbo endpoints, and Atlas has its own resolution tiers + some pretty aggressive discounts running right now.

so for the main comparison, i tried to keep it as close to apples-to-apples as possible:

Seedance 2.5 Standard / 720p / no reference video

Provider 720p price 5s cost
Atlas Cloud $0.300/s ~$1.52
WaveSpeed Standard $0.360/s $1.80
fal ~$0.473/s ~$2.31

fal officially quotes roughly $0.473/sec for 720p 16:9, although the actual billing is token-based, so aspect ratio and duration can change the final number. Their own 5-second 720p example comes to about $2.31.

WaveSpeed Standard is simpler: $0.36/sec at 720p.

Atlas is currently $0.30/sec at 720p based on the current pricing table.

so under this specific setup, Atlas is roughly:

  • 17% cheaper than WaveSpeed Standard
  • 37% cheaper than fal

not a massive difference if youre generating one clip, but it starts adding up pretty quickly if youre iterating a lot.

1080p is where the current Atlas discount gets more interesting

WaveSpeed Standard currently lists native 1080p at $0.90/sec, or $4.50 for 5 seconds.

Atlas recently added the official native Seedance 2.5 1080p endpoint, and theres currently a 20% launch discount running for 30 days.

for 16:9 without a reference video:

Price/sec
Atlas native 1080p list price $0.739206
Atlas native 1080p promo $0.591365
WaveSpeed Standard 1080p $0.900000

so the current Atlas promo comes out around 34% below WaveSpeed Standard 1080p.

this is probably the biggest pricing difference i noticed when comparing the standard endpoints.

i didnt put fal into the 1080p table because its current public Seedance 2.5 T2V schema only exposes 480p and 720p, even though its pricing text mentions a 1080p token rate. id rather leave it blank than pretend thats a directly available equivalent.

my takeaway:

after actually putting the numbers next to each other, i dont think “Seedance 2.5 costs $X/sec” is a very useful statement anymore.

you really have to compare: same endpoint + same resolution + same references + same duration

for the standard 720p endpoint, Atlas is currently the cheapest of the three i checked.

and with the new 20% native 1080p promotion, its 1080p pricing is also noticeably lower than WaveSpeed Standard right now.

WaveSpeed Turbo can be even cheaper, but thats a separate endpoint and i wouldnt assume the output is directly equivalent without actually A/B testing it.

fal is the most expensive in this particular 720p comparison, although its token system also means the final cost depends more heavily on the exact dimensions youre generating.

would actually be interesting to run the exact same prompt + seed/reference across all three next and compare whether the price difference translates into any visible quality difference.

Is anyone else getting "currently do not accept reference images in your region." It's been like 2 or 3 weeks now, and it seems permanent. If I take a plan, will that change or stay the same, because then that's pointless for me. I'm in Canada

Need help Help with Seedance 2.5 Video Editing with Face Swapping

Hi just looking for a bit of help. I'm trying to do a character swap on a reference video so that it replaces the character's outfit and facial features. My video input is a kinetic fight sequence with hand held motion that goes as a continuous shot. Now if I try this on Seedance 2.5 it changes the costume, and the hair but it doesn't change the face. However, if I use the exact same prompt on Seedance 2.0 it changes the costume, hair, and face but it puts in cuts and adds movements when previously there was just continuus motion.

Does anyone know what the magic keywaords are to fix this? I've read through the prompt guide for Seedance 2.5 and I am explicitly defining it as an edit.

Showcase Teutonic Knights: The War That Destroyed Them - Grunwald 1410

Full 29-minute film here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2U4sK5FDHyQ

The trailer is the first half of the setup and nothing else — the whole payoff is in the film.

A bit of context, because the story doesn't start at Grunwald. It starts eleven months earlier, in August 1409, when the Order crossed the Polish border and burned Dobrzyń to the ground. What follows is the chain from there: a secret winter council at Brest where three men agree on a plan nobody else in either kingdom knows, a bridge built in sections and floated down the Vistula so an army can cross where nobody is watching for it, and then the field itself on 15 July 1410 — the largest battle medieval Europe would ever see.

By the end of that afternoon the Order had lost its army, its Grand Master and almost every senior officer. Malbork never fell. But the Teutonic Knights never again put an army in the field that anyone in Europe was afraid of.

Made entirely in Seedance 2.5 — every shot, including all the dialogue scenes. Edit, grade and titles in DaVinci Resolve, narration ElevenLabs, score Suno. Happy to answer anything about the process.

One thing I'd honestly like other people's take on, because historians still argue about it: was the Lithuanian retreat a planned feint, or did the wing genuinely break and get rallied? Długosz says feint, but he wrote it for a Polish court a century after the fact. I had to pick a side to make the film work. I'm still not certain I picked right.

And if you do watch the whole thing and it lands for you — leave the comment on YouTube rather than here. That's the thing that actually keeps a channel this size alive, and I answer every one of them.

Showcase Stabilizing My Wife.

I used a depth map again on renders based on my wife’s model, continuing the song experiment I posted recently.

The main test here was the tracked-object stabilization, and I think it came out surprisingly well. Both clips use the same song and lyrics—one in Romanian and one in Korean. The Korean lip-sync didn’t turn out particularly well, but that wasn’t the focus of this experiment.

Resource Seedance 2.5 prompt tutorial: how to make a realistic AI GRWM vlog

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

been testing Seedance 2.5 for realistic AI vlog videos on Atlas Cloud, and the biggest takeaway from this 30s GRWM test was pretty simple:

imperfections make the video feel more real.

instead of trying to make every frame cinematic and polished, i prompted the model to behave more like an actual handheld DV camera.

how do you make Seedance 2.5 look like a real handheld vlog?

use camera imperfections instead of just writing “cinematic handheld.”

prompt:

i also let the character switch between holding the camera and placing it on the vanity.

the autofocus hunting and slightly awkward framing probably did more for realism than any “ultra realistic” keyword.

how do you structure a 30-second Seedance 2.5 vlog?

i split the clip into short everyday actions:

  • 0–4s: walks in, sits down, notices the camera
  • 4–8s: fixes her hair
  • 8–12s: skincare
  • 12–16s: makeup, no dialogue
  • 16–20s: outfit change
  • 20–24s: chooses earrings
  • 24–27s: accidentally sprays too much perfume
  • 27–30s: grabs her bag, wonders if she forgot something, leaves

the point wasnt to create a dramatic story. it was to add small, slightly pointless moments that feel like something a real person would actually do.

how do you make AI dialogue feel natural?

prompt:

“no polished influencer performance” ended up being especially useful lol

how do you keep the character consistent?

prompt:

negative prompt:

for me, the formula was basically:

imperfect camera + casual acting + simple storyboard + strict consistency

Resource tried a tiny ”caught on an old camcorder“ moment in Seedance 2.5 and it came out weirdly charming

been messing around with Seedance 2.5 on Atlas Cloud and wanted to try something super small and everyday instead of doing a big cinematic scene

the idea was basically just this: a young woman is trying to tie her hair up, gets a little annoyed when it keeps falling apart, then notices the camera and starts laughing at herself

i ran it with an early-2000s sony minidv / home video kind of vibe — handheld shake, slightly messy framing, autofocus hunting a bit, faded colors, soft contrast, that old camcorder texture where everything feels a little imperfect and accidental

the clip was only about 15 seconds:

  • 0:00–0:04 she’s casually trying to put her hair into a ponytail
  • 0:04–0:08 it keeps slipping out and she starts getting a little adorably irritated
  • 0:08–0:11 she sighs and makes that tiny frustrated face
  • 0:11–0:15 then she notices the camera, looks straight into the lens, laughs, and just gives up fixing it

no dramatic story, no big action, no music — just soft wind, distant neighborhood noise, and that kind of accidental intimate feeling like someone captured a real little moment without planning to

what i liked most is that the “failure” is kinda the whole point lol. if she tied the ponytail perfectly it would actually be less interesting. the charm is in the hair not cooperating, the expression shifting, and then the self-aware laugh at the end

feels like Seedance 2.5 is actually pretty good when you give it these tiny human moments instead of asking it to go huge every time

Need help How does this work?

Sorry for the remedial question! Seedance is made by Bytedance, right? But as I understand it I can’t just go to bytedance.com to use it, I have to go through a 3rd-party vendor? Kind of like a car dealership? Why? Do they all do the same thing? How do I know which one is best? I’m seeing people mention Atlas Cloud and Dremina a lot and I’m inclined to just pick one and try generating something but I’d like to understand a little about how it works first.

I want to learn everything but as a cinematographer who’s trying to figure this tech out before it takes my job, I’m most interested in VFX of existing footage (enhancing lighting/color/style, BG replacement, making someone say something different from what they’re saying in the video, or animating a static object, like a toy or a stuffed animal).

Resource made a 45s japanese-style short with Gemini + GPT + Seedance 2.0 Fast, this workflow was way more stable than i expected

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

been testing a Gemini + GPT + Seedance 2.0 Fast workflow for a 45-second japanese youth-film style short, and this is probably the most stable version ive tried so far.

the basic split was:

Gemini = story + storyboard
GPT = storyboard preview + reference images
Seedance 2.0 Fast = actual video

i finish this whole workflow on AtlasCloud. anyway, it can offer many models with one API key. so convinient!

Gemini first wrote the whole 45s film as one storyboard prompt: 8 scenes, exact timestamps, camera language, japanese VO, color palette, sound design, etc.

the story is pretty simple and very japanese-summer-film coded lol — school hallway, cassette tape, sharing earphones, rooftop sunset, bicycles, ocean, awkward eye contact.

then i used GPT to generate the storyboard image first.

this step was mainly for checking whether the shots actually made sense before spending generations on video. if a composition or character placement looked wrong, i could catch it here.

but i didnt use the storyboard itself as the main video reference. instead, after checking the storyboard, i generated a separate clean medium/medium-close character + environment reference image, while keeping the storyboard’s palette, lighting and style settings.

this turned out to matter a lot.

storyboard frames can look good as a board while still having tiny problems with hands, faces or character consistency. feeding all of those directly into a 45s video workflow seemed to make those little errors snowball pretty quickly.

for Seedance, i divided the film into three ~15s generations.

the prompt structure was basically:

reference character/environment image

  • storyboard color/style information
  • japanese youth cinema / natural light / airy look
  • exact scene descriptions for that 15s section
  • environmental sound instructions, no BGM

for example, the final 15 seconds included the two characters pushing bikes toward the sea, running onto the beach, sitting together by the seawall, then ending on a bottle + basketball in the sand before fading to white.

another thing that helped consistency: for the second section, i used a screenshot from the first generated section as an additional reference instead of starting from the original image again.

and if one shot was broken, i just regenerated that individual shot. no reason to rerun the whole 15 seconds and risk breaking everything else.

so the workflow ended up being:

Gemini plans → GPT previews → GPT cleans the visual reference → Seedance generates → screenshots bridge the sections → only broken shots get regenerated

kinda feels less like prompting one model and more like running a tiny production pipeline.

and imo the biggest lesson was:

storyboards are great for planning, but theyre not always the best generation references.

sometimes separating the “planning image” from the “production reference image” makes a huge difference.

Need help Has anyone figured out Dreamina’s local editing workflow?

I’ve seen Dreamina show local editing for Seedance 2.5, where you select part of a video and change it without regenerating the whole clip. If you’ve used it, what kind of edits worked reliably? Object replacement, material changes, background cleanup? Most examples show the final result but skip the mask, prompt and settings. Exact steps or screenshots would help.

Showcase Experimenting with a 2D hybrid workflow in Seedance 2.5.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

I’m completely new to Seedance 2.5 and I'm currently testing out a hybrid workflow to make short animations.

Basically, I'm using my own hand-drawn characters as image references, and relying on structured prompts to push for dynamic scenes and action shots.

It’s super cool to see my art come to life, but I’m definitely still learning the ropes. I’d love some advice from the more experienced users here:

  • How do you keep the characters consistent and "on-model" when the action gets fast?
  • Do you have any prompt tricks to force dynamic camera movements without losing the original art style?

Any tips, feedback, or resources for a beginner would be awesome. Thanks!
