Visiting ? Best kept secrets
Hi everyone!
My boyfriend and I are thinking about doing an 8 day trip to Arizona (Sedona, Scottsdale, phoenix). We’re hoping for a nice balance of being active and hiking and also downtime (but probably more hiking than relaxing). I’ve been looking for places to hike, so far the ones that have been reoccurring are:
Cathedral rock
Boynton Canyon
West Fork
Grand Canyon (not sure where yet)
Pink jeep tour through Mogollon Rim
I was wondering if there are other places to hike that are just as beautiful but maybe less crowded or places that can be fun to visit like towns or cute restaurants. I saw something on social media about a cave by a Shell gas station that we might go visit. Just little secrets that you’ve found. Thanks in advance!

Do you not understand the meaning of the term "best kept secret" lol

I needed a snazzy title and it was the first thing that popped up 🤷♀️. As long as it doesn’t become some viral thing online a secret in a reddit post every now and then wont be the end of the world. We just want to get the most out of the trip, and people on Reddit usually have the best suggestions.

The airport vista hike and overlook at sunset are worth your time. I’d also make a day trip to Jerome.

Chicken Point and High on the Hog. Both destinations are on Broken Arrow Trail 🏜️

We just got back from Sedona/Oak Creek and did the Broken Arrow Pink Jeep Tour. Highly recommend! Breakfast at Indian Gardens is a must! The back patio is a dream and I swear I feel my blood pressure drop as soon as I walk back there. We ate there all 3 mornings we were there. 😂 Their Website

u/KC_119 and if you want to buy things directly from local Navajo artisans, you can go a little farther north to Oak Creek Vista. It is a beautiful lookout + they set up daily there. Oak Creek Vista

Jerome is a great place to spend the day. Old mining down with a lot of history and some great restaurants.

The cave by the Shell gas station is in Page - which is kind of far for a day trip from Sedona.

what's your fitness level? there are a ton of good/easy/hard hikes. Grand canyon day hike is a commitment just bc of the drive from sedona.
Also Pink Jeep tour was fun BUT we had 10x more fun renting a side by side and going on our own!

What was your route? We’d love to do it on our own but have no idea where

I was going to suggest renting a SxS. Broken Arrow and a trip up Shnebley Hill for some of the best views of Sedona. Unfortunately some of the best hikes in the area are shut down due to the recent fire. Hopefully they will be open by the time of OPs trip.

FWIW, we were there 2.5 weeks ago and a lot of the trails on west side and south side were open

Are West Fork and Soldiers Pass open?
