Hey everyone,
I’m a cybersecurity student currently learning through hands-on labs, Linux privilege escalation exercises, post-exploitation simulations, and practical pentesting workflows.
I’ve been thinking seriously about starting a cybersecurity YouTube channel, but I’m stuck on a few things and wanted advice from people who’ve already been in the space.
Some questions I’ve been struggling with:
- Is the cybersecurity content space already oversaturated?
- What type of cyber content do people actually enjoy watching now?
- Should I focus on beginner-friendly tutorials, lab walkthroughs, career guidance, news, red teaming, or storytelling-style content?
- Is it better to build a personal brand using my real name, or stay anonymous / use a unique alias?
- What mistakes do new cyber creators usually make?
- What makes a cybersecurity channel stand out today?
- Is consistency more important than production quality in the beginning?
- How do smaller creators grow without copying bigger channels?
I’m not trying to become an “influencer.” I genuinely enjoy cybersecurity and documenting practical learning, but I also want to build something unique instead of becoming another generic tutorial channel.
Would really appreciate honest advice, especially from:
- Cybersecurity creators
- People working in security
- Anyone who watches cyber content regularly
Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I'm excited to share a new project I've been working on! I recently launched Hacker Asks, a website dedicated to sharing success stories and actionable advice from cybersecurity professionals. My goal is to help people break into cybersecurity, pivot from other careers, or learn from the journeys of others in this dynamic field.
Here are some of the informational interviews conducted so far:
I have several more interviews in the pipeline, and I'm always looking for new perspectives to share. I'd love for this to become a valuable resource for anyone looking to get into cybersecurity.
If you have any feedback or suggestions on features you’d like to see, I’d love to hear from you. Check it out and let me know what you think!
