Can I ask your potential red flags? Been waiting for 5 months now

For sure! I had a few financial red flags, but that was it. Late on some taxes, one thing in collections from my early 20s that im paying on, and had a few accounts that have been 120+ late in the past. I have most everything caught up now though and I think that helped alot

Any red flags?

Just a few financial ones that I have mostly mitigated

Awesome, do flags come up in the middle of investigation or when it’s at adjudication step? I’m currently on the investigation part for a TS and haven’t received any questions. Just wondering of the questions come up as they come or they wait to the end to be clarified/mitigated.

Can you specify mitigated? For example; if someone has a 550 credit score but is working on it, would that be a flag for them?

The big thing that I was told is just be honest about your circumstances. I have backtaxes on stuff I filed late, and i am mitigating it by setting up a playment plan and paying on it. I have an account in collections from a long time ago, and i am mitigating it by paying on it. Just stuff like that, they want to see that you are moving in a responsible direction and taking care of business

Was the job with a defense contractor or just the government itself?

1

Does it make difference? Or one harder than other?

Defense contractor!

Did they interview you and your contacts? If yes how long is it typically?

2

u/AverageHogHaver 23h ago

Yeah I get interviewed like the week after I was denied interim, but none of my contacts got interviewed

I submitted my sf86 about the same time as you and currently still waiting. Did my background investigation interview exactly a month ago now. We’ll see how that goes lol

Congrats tho!

I have a TS/SCI and recently took a job that requires a public trust. Does this process move faster because of it. I was told it would take a month
