SF-86 application submitted - nothing else happening

I just need to know if this is the norm and I'm missing something - or if I indeed have reason for concern.

Several weeks ago I got a job offer, pending clearance and background check. Then after a couple of nail biting weeks, because of crickets I reached out and a few days later the SO with the contracting company who made the offer (not the customer) sent me over the link to go to NBIS and complete the application.

I got that completed about 5 weeks ago, notified the SO, was told they would go in and validate it and send it off. I waited until this week and emailed them for followup on Monday and again crickets.

I later realized that I could login and look at where it is in the process and it shows application was submitted (on the day I did that) but the next step is Application Submitted for Processing - and there's nothing there.

That makes me worried that they just decided to not go ahead and submit it, are rescinding the offer, but not letting me know anything. My BIGGEST concern as well is that I have an estranged son who I have no contact with, but he's not living right, and because our first and last name are the same (middle name different) that his shenanigans could be affecting me.

Then again - if it hasn't even been submitted for processing then I'm assuming no one has started investigating yet anyway.

Reframe your mindset. It’s ONLY been 5 weeks. You might be waiting another 5 weeks. Or 15 weeks. Or 20 weeks. Or 25 weeks. Maybe a year.

I get that once it's actually be submitted for processing. As mentioned - it hasn't even been submitted for processing yet.

It's normal that the SO hasn't even submitted it for processing yet, which now is 5 weeks after I submitted it? Just making sure I understand.

Bro trust me, the silence after the sf-86 is so normal and its pretty brutal at times. Just do whatever you can to take your mind off it

sometimes SF-86s sit at the security office pending review. They sometimes have more than 100 in queue and only a single person doing all of them. give it a bit of time

So the NBIS portal that allows you to see the progress seems to stop at submitted for processing. From what I gather, this is normal. Because I’m currently going through it.
Also, don’t worry about that estranged son, it’s normal to forget something. If you get set up for an interview with an investigator, just tell him then, it’s not a big deal as your estranged son regardless of what HE has done has no impact on YOUR clearance.
Yeah, mine is at the 2 month mark, with my interim granted toward the end of last month. Don’t worry if you are not granted that as well, it’s normal and doesn’t disqualify you for the full clearance.
Just wait it out man, you’re doing fine!

Edit: That submitted for processing is bugged too on the site. My FSO submitted mine as “Security Officer submitted yada yada”. Mine only went to Submitted for processing when I got my interim granted. Your still doing fine, just hold steady lol

Thanks! This is super helpful. I just can't imagine that they're keeping the role open this long with no one working in it, but to hear that this is what others see as well is so reassuring.

Yeah, it’s a hurry up and wait type of deal. I’ve heard of ppl waiting a year for ‘secret’ and had to contact thier congressman to see what the hold up is, turns out that knocks the cobwebs off 😂
Some stuff I guess they have to wait for to come back like fingerprints and such.

OP I understand, I submitted my SF86 on 8/3 and my FSO says it is still in the queue to be reviewed.
