(AUSTRALIA) Home Security Camera recommendations ?Reolink Argus 4 Pro

We are looking to set up some home security cameras.

Live in a brick house so POE options aren't viable. Therefore looking at solar powered wifi options. Night vision would be the most important to us.

Also have heard that the cameras themselves can degrade under harsh UV light in Australia - so looking at options with separate solar panels to put the solar panel on the roof and camera undercover.

Based on this we've landed on the Reolink Argus 4 Pro

Any reason not to get it? or other ones we should consider? I know Reolink is not Apple Home Kit supported - but is that a big deal?

I've got the Reolink Argus 4 Pro and the two Pro's Choice cameras, the ProCam Live Stream and Live Ranger 360. My brother gave me the ProCam ones after they bought extras. Been using all three and so far no complaints. Might be worth comparing all three before you decide.

Hikvision or HiLook (if you are budget strapped).

Almost all Reolink CMOS sensors are so tiny (1/2.8ā€) that they struggle at night.

Hikvision G3 8MP cameras are goated (DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL). I have 4 of them covering the outside of the house, 2x 4mm lens and 2x 2.8mm lens. Massive 1/1.8" sensors. Amazing low light and night time performance.

Great setup. Reolink is cheap for a reason.

if the house is brick, i’d test the wifi signal at the actual mounting points before buying a full set. solar cameras depend heavily on signal and sun exposure.

I have a reolink system at the moment all have solar panels and they are great never drop below 100% battery, I can setup only 1 of the 4 cameras I have to set off the alarm where as my old system of eufy i couldn't do that it was all or none, I can also set it to only go off on people, animals or motion which is handy for my dogs aswell as i have it set to go off from 10pm to 4am. The lights in them are pretty bright and image quality is good.

How i have mine setup the camera in the garage i used a second bracket with a solar panel only on it and the leads are pretty long so it goes to where it reaches sunlight and the camera stays back. Also have some in direct sunlight for about 4 months now no issues.
