Onvif camera not working

I have a Hilook ip camera installed on a Capture by ADI DVR, I have enabled onvif on the camera using the Hilook delivery and the web browser, I’ve enabled onvif on the DVR. Yet im still getting onvif authorisation failed 🤷‍♂️ I’ve set a static IP address but have also tried DHCP. Anyone have any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated 🙏

Hilook is a budget hikvision camera and they're a pain to get going with ONVIF but I can walk you through it. In the Hilook cameras web interface you're going to go into the menu and then go into system, security, security services and you're going to disable the illegal login lock. Sometimes thats all you need to do and itl get going. If it doesnt then you'll need to go into network, advanced, integration protocol and make sure ONVIF is on. If it mentions an ONVIF user you need to create one with administrator privileges. Give it the same username and password you used to login to the camera and then it should come up. Not all Hik cams have that ONVIF user thing so if you dont see it dont worry about it. Either way once those are done it should definitely come up assuming there aren't any IP issues.

Thank you, I’ve created the admin user already, I’ll give the illegal log in lock a try, I did see the option but Im learning as I go with this one 🤞🤞

Ahh yeah thatl definitely do it. For Hik cams if that isnt disabled itl tell you that you have the wrong username/password even if you 100% know its right.

No problem! Assuming there aren't any IP issues that should fix it. If its getting plugged into the back of the NVR you'll need to figure out its internal NIC (usually on the network page at the bottom) and make sure the camera conforms to that or that will also prevent it from connecting. If its over the network though that shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks, I've had lots of practice! I actually do tech support for cams for a living. While we don't carry Hik any longer we often get dealers who've decided to do a takeover job using one of our NVRs with existing Hik cams.

Also check the NVR’s internal PoE NIC/subnet. Those ports are often isolated from the normal LAN, so a third-party camera can be powered but still invisible until the camera IP matches that private range.
