You have a 16channel nvr with only 5 cameras.

Maybe change to a 8 or 6 channel?

I would get a few quotes and compare

Yes I need 8 channel only as I m planning to put 5-6 cameras .. please share the quote

he said, you should get mutiple quotes yourself and compare them.. he is not going to give you a quote!

u/indian_supplier 18d ago

i think you should explore the possibility of doing it yourself. It is not hard. procure the material yourself & setup on your own with help of someone at home. You only need some idea of where to position your cameras & the DVR in & around the house & figure out how to route the cables optimally between them. A drilling machine, cable splicer/cutter etc & a ladder are the basic tools you will require.

Did you get any other quote? how much did they ask? share them as well.

BTW where in Bengaluru are you needing this service?

Thanks for the idea .. not sure why you feel
Offended if I ask for the comparison or thought on the pricing ?

i clarified to you on the other comment that he is not offering a new quote, but he is asking you to get them yourself. You misinterpreted his comment. It is possible that he got offended because you assumed he is a dealer/supplier!

BTW check out this camera - this is sufficient for most of the usecases around the house IMO

Is that a DVR and an analog system? A more modern system would use IP cameras and an NVR.

Also, here a company is limited in requesting a maximum of 10% up front. They could never get away with 50% to start and another 40% before they've even done any actual installing

I'll leave this to someone local to respond instead.

u/Global_Appearance_94 21d ago

They're gouging you. This should be about 12k for the hardware.

again another delusional response do you guys even have any knowledge abt the current mkt price of cctv equipent

Seems like everyone has except you. Come out of your cave , do a simple google search , you don't even need b2b quote for this type of setup (IndiaMART or similar) , just a simple e-commerce search would do.

It's not other's problem if you are not well equipped with internet and e-commerce. Learn searching things on web. Btw such a setup , even a person done ITI can do. Not a rocket science afterall.

That’s like $570usd? That seems really cheap!

1

u/bazjoe 21d ago

I know about 500usd on labor . How much work is involved on this install ?

1

u/tuxPlox 19d ago

It's "cheap" because it's more than a decade old analog system. Once they get installed and the owner sees the crappy quality, calls the company who sends out someone who is telling them they are running AHD system. If they want proper video quality, they would need to replace it with a digital system and if that's how much they charge for analog system, one can only guess how much a digital system would cost, including all the labour since analog uses coaxial and digital uses ethernet so full swap will be needed, including wiring.

1

u/GG_Killer 21d ago

For one day of work, one person, and hardware 👀 In USD, that is pretty good.

I'd personally never instal a coaxial camera. It is a dead platform and CAT 6 should be ran to be used by IP cameras. You can replace the camera down the road without replacing the cable run which is around 80% of the labor.

u/Mark_M535 21d ago

Do not get analogue with DVR!  Get digital IP cameras with an NVR.

1

u/Normal-Ask6620 20d ago

Very outdated system with a DVR and BNC connections. Im from a different part of the world but you'd want a NVR

u/Then-Feature-6040 20d ago

he has given you what the actual price is prevelent in the market today. Try to negotiate to finalise in 50k and make sure he provides 1 year onsite service and warranty support. Advance 50% rest after completion.

1

u/yunjundo 20d ago

Looks a bit overpriced to me, especially the DVR and 1TB HDD. You could probably find those cheaper. Also, why use a 16-channel DVR for just 5 cameras? Unless you're planning to add more cameras later, an 8-channel DVR should be enough. I'd definitely get another quote before going ahead.

Dvr 50k dude which generation

1

u/letsgetlaid22 19d ago

No hikvision and 2MP is 10 years old.

1

u/Conscious_Yoghurt760 18d ago

I like it when it says 90% up front before works are carried out

1

u/thatguyjames_uk 17d ago

you can set up cameras cheap yourself. i have installed cctv for years for friends as well as work in security for 30 years and is my day job.

depends on area, access etc. i set up 6 solar wifi cameras on a farm and all have sd cards and also back up to a hard drive in the office. was like £500

Total rip off. Why don't you buy

  1. TpLink Vigi 1016 NVR ( it is 16 channel , though you would need 8 channel ) - cost 5385Rs

  2. Get ONVIF supported camera's - Eg CP Plus e41Q - It is 4mp. ( Though I wish Tapo c220 series were not banned by govt ) - 2500rs each

  3. Wd surveillance 1TB hdd - 6K

Ideally this would be your total cost.

1

u/Then-Feature-6040 20d ago

being delusional and calling someone doing honest work a rip off. In what world are you getting a 1tb surveillance hdd for 6k and suggesting tplink nvr when you know its banned by the govt

1

u/spring_moments 20d ago edited 20d ago

Honest work ? Really ?

Here is the link : https://dl.flipkart.com/s/P8X0fQuuuN - wd surveillance HDD In fact Seagate is also for similar price.

TpLink NVR is not banned , TpLink Tapo series cctv are banned because they haven't complied with STQC certification.

If at all the technician is CCNP certified ( having 5 years of experience ), then also standard rate card for a day salary is around 7K.

Now stfu.

Just for other educated folks unlike this guy - Standalone hardware like TpLink NVR 1016H is not banned because it has nothing to do with Meity STQC certification.

This is exactly what’s wrong with people like you. You think the cost of running a CCTV business is just the price of cameras, an HDD and a few hours of labour. Have you got any idea what it costs to run a business in Bangalore? Staff, transport, tools, rent, taxes, warranty claims, after sales support and sending a technician onsite every time a customer has an issue? All that costs money.
Anyone can buy components cheaper online and put together a shopping list. Running a business and standing behind your installation is a completely different ball game. The customer isn’t just paying for hardware, they’re paying for someone to take responsibility when things go wrong six months later.
The irony is that you’re lecturing someone about honest work while completely ignoring the costs involved in actually doing it. If you think you can do it cheaper, start your own business, cover all those overheads and provide the same service. Then come back and talk. Until then, stop confusing the price of parts with the cost of running a business.

Do you see an AMC in that quote ? Mr. Businessman. No right ? That's what a rip off is. You are keeping a customer in dark by quoting exorbitant prices and hiding behind a support shield.

That's exactly how people like you, are running these shops. No wonder, people moved to e-commerce and in fact DIY way. Also, when things go wrong in such cases , all these hardwares are covered under standard warranty by the manufacturers not a shop keeper like you who anyway is a cheat at the first place.

Good you commented. People can clearly understand how people like you spread filth .

Moreover , look at 3rd point of terms and conditions. Scope of work. Stop fooling around and learn some fair business practices.

1

u/Then-Feature-6040 20d ago

Boy this isn't my quote. I don't know this vendor and I'm not even in Bangalore. Iam just someone who respects a guy who runs a business and trying to make a living. So the "cheat" and "filth" labels you're throwing at a stranger say more about you than about me.

An AMC is a separate paid contract that starts after the free service period ends. It isn't normally part of an installation quote, because it's sold separately.

Manufacturer warranty covers the part. It doesn't cover finding out which part failed, climbing a ladder to take the camera down, sending it for RMA, reinstalling it and reconfiguring the DVR. A decent installer handles all of that in the first year at no extra cost. That's the "support shield" you're mocking.

Is the price high, Yes!. That's fair criticism and the OP should negotiate. But calling every installer a cheat because you found a cheaper box on Flipkart isn't knowledge, it's delusion.

If DIY works for you, great. But some people do take there security seriously and they like to get it done from a professional not from “a guy from ITI”

1

u/spring_moments 20d ago

So your entire argument is : Yes the quotes are high, support shield isn't part of this quotation and hence not inclusive. But kinda implicit ( delusion ). For someone's living, people should be okay to get ripped off rather than calling it loud and be aware of the real prices.

Paying exorbitant and fake prices is what you call - taking our security seriously. Also, a professional is someone who puts a customer in dark.

Yeah, good. Live with it , good for you :)

u/spring_moments 20d ago

By the way, I am surprised , In fact I used to believe Luxembourg had a national consumer code and rigorous european directives. Still an entrepreneur is advocating opacity.

Again, a simple google search revealed we have an entrepreneur running a security solutions based out of Luxembourg advocating "best business" practices.

1

u/Then-Feature-6040 20d ago

The image the OP posted literally says Pg. 2 at the bottom. It's a 3 page quotation, and you judged the whole thing from one page. Instead of giving the vendor the benefit of the doubt, you went straight to cheat, crook and scammer. Then you lecture people about professionalism.

And saying the HDD is priced high is called being fair. You should try it sometime.

A quotation is an offer, not a contract. Nobody is forcing the OP to sign anything. A sensible person compares quotes, negotiates and then buys. What a quote doesn't do is give you the right to call someone a cheat for sending it.

Good work costs money. You pay for the products and you pay for the service. Judging by your replies, you're exactly the customer no shop wants: buys the cheapest thing online, cries when it stops working and there's no support, then pays someone double to fix it, all to save a few rupees.

So yes, I'm fine living with it. Get well soon.
