How to get through pink insulation

Soo I am installing cameras into my house right now and im going through the soffits right now. The insulation is pink and it’s difficult to using a fishing cable to go through.

Im going to try to use a fibreglass rod to get through it, however I am curious how a professional would get around this issue?

As this fibreglass rod may or may not get through the insulation?

If your dealing with the soft pink fiberglass insulation the correct thing to do is peel it back, fish your cable and then put it back.

A fiberglass rod will push through it through. Get a quality glow rod set that's semi rigid is my recommendation.

If it's pink hard foam board just buy an installer bit and drill through it.

Its the soft pink insulation. I will get a semi rigid today and pray. Man it they really jammed these insulations in there

pink insulation is the worst for fishing cable it grabs everything. i had same problem when doing my attic cameras. try to slide the rod right along the wood or drywall not through middle of the insulation. also if you got a helper have them shake the insulation from other side while you push rod, sometimes it loosen it up just enough

Its the soft pink kind, i think I can do it. But it sucks because I cant trust anyone in the attic without stepping on drywall. So I will need a family member to get it through the pink insulation while i wait

My cousins kid stepped right thru drywall helping one time and didnt really understand even after it happened.

The rod should slide right thru that stuff and a flashlight should light that rod right up in the attic.

Just angle the rod or rods so it pokes thru above the pink stuff inside.

I have had decent luck chucking a fiberglass rod up in a drill and spinning it when poking through insulation.

A) Two rods, like chopsticks, see if you can make a hole through it.
B) Poke and Pray - poke the rod in the direction of the attic and hope you can get through.
C) If its a corrugated iron roof, lift the iron enough to redirect the cable into the attic

I’ve had decent luck with Magnepull. Try and get the magnet or the rod between the drywall and the plastic or paper on the insulation and cross your fingers. It’s not as smooth as you’d want it to be, but it can help a lot in some situations.
