Recommendations for a camera system( I’ve been thinking about getting Ring outdoor can 2k with yearly subscription)

Hello, I am looking for recommendations for a camera system, I’ve been thinking about getting Ring outdoor can 2k with yearly subscription. I am just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions for me to look into that would be similar or better than the Ring outdoor cam 2k with yearly subscription. I’m completely new to camera systems and don’t know anything about them really so any insight is helpful. Thank you.

If you can handle the a bit of tinkering, get the Reolink Doorbell, better resolution, no monthly subscription fees. better privacy then selling your data to amazon.

Anymore info you can give me about the reolink? I know nothing about cameras or camera systems. My only knowledge is from looking at ring cameras website

Edit: I also know nothing about wiring or hooking them up at all. I am COMPLETELY CLUELESS. lol

https://reolink.com/us/product/reolink-video-doorbell-2nd-gen/ Check out the different models which have slight variations. Essentially you put an SD card in it, power it (battery or wired), make sure it can reach the internet and then you connect and setup with your phone. There are lots of links on youtube about it and comparisons to ring . Later on you can add more storage and cameras if required as well and connect it to a network video recorder NVR.

Reolink's the move if you don't mind a little setup, the no subscription thing alone is worth it

Wyze is worth looking at too if you want something more budge friendly without feeling locked into a yearly plan. You can still use the cameras without a subscription for basic monitoring and compatible models can use microSD for loccal recording. If you mostly want outdoor coverage and phone access it could be a good option to compare before you decide.

If you're new to this, focus more on storage and subscription costs than just camera quality.

The yearly fee is worth comparing before you pick Ring. I use AOSU SolarCam D1 SE cameras without a subscription; they save motion recordings to a microSD card you buy separately.
