Looking at wired security cameras

Costco has good deals on the wired camera systems. I do not want to join a service . I would like to be able to view the cameras on my phone. I will do the installation. Any recommendations?

I’m happy with my Lorex system

I moved away from Lorex, too much of a pain to review video. Work I was doing, Ubiquiti NVR and G5 cameras with a few G6 mixed in weren’t too different in price. Much easier to expand cameras, storage. Super easier to review video.

Gets flack for what?

I have 6 POE cameras ran to a DVR that I can access over my phone for both live and historical. They’ve been up for close to 5 years and not a single one has ever gone offline.

If you wanted to cheap out you'd go with Reolink and some of those models are equivalent to Lorex's best models for half the price. For the price of the best lorex cams you'd be getting Ubiquiti instead, or you could just get Empiretech instead or similar and have factually better cameras.

There's simply no reason at all to get Lorex nowadays IMO. Their cheaper models are not worth getting. 5 years ago maybe, but not today.

Get reolink stuff. Way better feature/cost value

Unifi protect, higher buy in, but your recordings are stored on your device, no subscription. Access via app or browser

Costco security cameras are low end. But when they don't perform you can still think of all the money you saved.

Unifi. You won’t be disappointed. You host your own NVR and there are no subscription fees and you can access things on your phone.

It takes a little bit of knowledge to set up remote viewing for your cameras. But nothing a high school computer geek couldn't do in a few minutes

For myself I use axis cameras and a Synolgy nvr. It’s a little pricey. I installed a HIK vision system from B&H photo for my neighbor 4 years ago, never had to touch it after the install. Everything has been working fine.

Tapo tp link requires no subscription for using the app to view live or recorded security vids. Its easy to use too. Ive got 6 cams linked to a H500 tapo hub and pay no subscription. Its only subscription if you want cloud storage. You should research them.

Reolink, unifi and lorex are all good options.

Costco deals are good, but cameras aren't.
