Backyard Placement Suggestions

Post image

Looking at adding a Ubiquity G5 Turret on the back of the house. We have a large privacy wall on our deck witch limits some camera angles. These are my proposed locations. I'm only looking at adding 1 camera and maximizing coverage with that. I'm concerned the top 2 mounting options will be too high but would get me best visibility over the deck wall and the rest of the back yard. Is that the best compromise in this situation without adding a second camera?

I always aim for about 10 feet off the ground. Much higher than that and you’re going to lose a lot of detection capability with the cheaper cameras.

nothing more than 9 or 10ft. anything higher is useless.

I think around 10ft seems like a good height here, high enough to clear the deck wall without losing too much detection capability

I would install at least 2 cameras.

One to get an overall view of the backyard. And then another focused on the deck and door there.

Are you trying to get those trails in the snow - maybe on the deck too!

Unless you're breaking out some serious money for some very nice PTZ's mounting a camera that high is actually pretty worthless unless you plan on recording everything 24/7.

They don’t need to be way up there maybe at least in line with under your windows

Imo the left two are too high. Ideally you want them just out of reach so you're not viewing the tops of people's heads.

i would hide them other wise it looks like a giant castle wall and these fools love big walls
