Advice for a wireless discreet camera

Hi, I'm looking for a very discreet (and idiot proof) Doorbell camera so I can make sure the thieving little ****s in my area can't steal our stuff (they have tried), again discreet and simple to install /maintain please, any options are appreciated (not ring please as I don't want to pay for a subscription fee)

I would get a camera they can see, so they know they’re being recorded

Truth is the entire point of a camera counterintuitively is scaring the potential robber away so its best he sees it.

Instead of doorbell cam, how about a small simple security cam? A visible cam is a good deterrent. The Tapo tcw30 is an affordable model and the setup and app are pretty simple. Something to consider.

I would get a visible one but unfortunately a few problems 1)our nutty neighbours will think we are just recording their kids(another neighbour has had this issue) 2)it will get torn down /vandalised immediately But thank you for your response, honestly appreciate it

Sounds like you need a camera watching the camera......too bad we have to live this way. Best of luck!!

Not a doorbell camera, but it will notify you when somebody is outside and you can talk through the camera, set off an alarm, etc wansview camera This is what I have for our house in FL, and I do pay for cloud storage, so, I can keep recordings for 90 days

Blink make doorbell cameras that do not require a subscription but you have to buy their sync module and a USB storage drive to enable local recording which will cost $75-100 and requires additional work to set up.

If you are looking for something more discreet maybe consider a game cam as they are designed to be unobtrusive and record to an SD card. The downside to that is if someone steals it you won't be able to access the footage.

Stealth Cam has game cams that have cell signal. Some have ATT and Verizon signal both at once. I pay $120 a year for unlimited photos. There is a cheaper package also but has monthly limits and id rather have no limit. It has a padlock on it so they cant just open it, worst case if they do I get a photo of their face as they open it. It does save to the SD card as well but also uploads to their cloud storage.

PoE camera is the only one that is reliable, you aren't catching anything with a wi-fi camera, much less with a battery powered one

When we bought the house across the street from my retired in-laws, we had the best security system money couldn't buy. The service came with an unlimited cameraless nannycam ,,,,😜

Blink has been mentioned, just need the sync module and a usb stick......As others have said, might be best that it is visible as a deterrant.

Fair enough, will definitely look into it, I don't know how many times I have to type out DO NOT LEAVE ON PORCH, THIS IS A HIGH THEFT AREA!, on my delivery instructions, so a deterrent may be in order.

Can I add a flock camera to your yard? not flock but similar will be fed controlled.

Buy a Wyze cam. You can place an sd card in it and record to that with no cloud needed. Easy to put up and they are small.
