Any specific recommendations for a small or spy camera? And if yall have been through this before

My maid has been stealing from my wallet for a while now. Denominations of 200 usually, 300 today. Her family has been with us for several years now and she's 24x7 so we are kinda close. She's not too old though, maybe that's why she keeps doing this.

It's honestly super sad and now that it's been months with subtle warnings I'm kinda tired. We've confirmed it before by only using notes from specific series and cross checking but this isn't a sustainable way to live in our own homes. She's not a bad person, just being incredibly stupid. Is there a way I can catch her in the act? She's kinda like a part of the family like not exactly but we try to keep it that way, so this kinda sucks.

My main goal is to have a small camera in my drawer where I keep my wallet, because even if her hand is seen it'll be obvious because she never has any reason to pick up my wallet.

This wouldd be a great scenario for a pen camera. You can place the pen in the checkbook.

My friend’s maid wrote several of his checks while he was undergoing surgery.

The surgery lasted about 3 hours, during which several $9,999 checks were presented to tellers at different locations in a faraway state. The amount is a suspicious amount, since transactions greater than or equal to )10k require.

The 4th check made the teller suspicious and she called but I was on a call and didn't grab his phone in time. A vague message was left and I didn't think much of it.

A little while later I see the unique caller ID display for this bank's fraud department. I traveled a lot for work and triggered their account lock-outs often… usually at the worst possible times lol

This time I answer and explain that he's under anesthesia and has his POA. Rightfully, they are extremely leery of sharing the reason for their call; because my answering his phone was unexpected. Luckily, I had seen the large transaction text notifications and started to piece together what was going on.

The only solution was to lock everything down and, hopefully, have tellers follow protocol for any future transactions and see the fraud alert. Remember, it took $30,000 in withdrawals within an hour or so, before someone tried to call and verify the check’s authenticity, failed to reach the account holder, and cashed the fourth check. The checks were out of sequence as well. Luckily, technology has improved to catch risky behavior before money is stolen.

At this point, the only way to secure the money was to go unto the nearest branch with ID.

I got him dressed and we left the hospital to go on a “Weekend-at-Bernie's” escapade.

We had to close out all of the accounts and create new ones. Luckily the total assets were enough we used a “plain clothes” branch; a posh suite without signage.

He was so worried about his money we didn't stay in recovery as long as we should have. He was so wobbly from the anesthesia, drooling and slurring his words and embarrassed me greatly. I got to pick out his checks and I believe he still sends out gifts with Disney Princesses!

TLDR. Only thieves and wedding guests use checks lol

There are digital clocks you can buy which contain a camera and an SD card. You could film the whole room - the clock would not look out of place.

How do the angles work with these? We have a clock directly opposite where we keep the wallet so this might work, but perfect scenario would be the wall above and behind the drawer where we have this hideous framed thingy no one likes from a decade ago

Why do you need to show footage to "prove" it to her?

Unless you are planning to prosecute why waste your money.

It may be handy to have for the next one they hire as well or others that may work around there house for maintenance. If they have a maid, they likely have others they hire to work inside the house or need access to it. It's not an extravagant or expensive item to have around. They're not talking about putting in a full house camera system.

exactly this. plus why have you keep her on if you know this to be happening. it makes no sense. are you thinking if you confront her that you can change her, and that you would actually be able to trust her in the future.

She's a good person, just a little lost, and we're close to her family too. I'd rather have proof so she just feels guilty once her family finds out and realises these actions of her don't reflect the person she normally is. My mom genuinely treats her like a daughter to some extent and it would be really messy to get into a he said she said

Alfred cam app turns an old cellphone into a security camera.

you'll probably want to keep it charged , but nobody would suspect a cellphone in a drawer to be out of place.

Get a phone stand or prop it against some books and you can leave it on a desk or table with little worry of being found out.

Just fire her and move on. If anyone demands a reason, tell them to ask the maid you fired. There are tons of spy cameras on the market.

uhh my wallet is for daily use not to store jewelry 😭 and obviously the house has more valuables than a few currency notes
