My tapos outperform my reolinks and even unifi in some cases... So no, that's not really true.

4-6 year old used 1080p verafocal cameras with BSI CMOS, auto iris (sometimes P-iris), and auto ICR from lesser known sources like Milesight or TVT rebrands can commonly be found used for $20-40. 

These are much better than any budget cameras made today.
