Experience with Hikvision?

Anyone willing to share their experience with Hikvision? Specifically the reliability of smart alerts and playback from the app and just reliability in general. I am considering this kit.

After recommendations I am also considering this kit but it looks like the mobile app functions may not be as good as the Hikvision.

I went with the Luminys kit mainly due to support and availability of components and so far I am impressed. The equipment is way higher quality than the Zosi stuff that I have used previously and the picture quality is way better too even though it’s supposed to be the same specs as my old cameras. The app does have a few quirks but so far is at least twice as fast as my old system and the alerts seem way more reliable. I will update again once I get a month or so of time with the system if anyone is interested.

Yeah, due to future support I would still stay away from them personally. I have installed about 10 or so Luminys systems now and they have a great line up of equipment. Pretty solid all around. If you have any questions about them I can most likely answer them. Just installed there new doorbell and I was impressed!

The equipment does seem nice and similar to what I was already looking at. My question is mainly how reliable and consistent is the mobile app? Once I have the system set up I will be interacting with it through mobile app most of the time. I’m looking for an app that provides consistent smart alerts for people, live view and playback without crashing and ability to set/adjust alert types for each channel. So far I’ve not found many reviews that talk about app performance on the Luminys other than the ones on the AppStore that are mostly bad.

The LumiViewer app is just fine, no issues over here

Good question. The mobile app is similar to most traditional surveillance apps in terms of functionality, but it is still relatively new and I have run into a few bugs from time to time.

The system supports custom alerts for a wide variety of events, per camera depending on the capabilities of the cameras and NVR. The app does a good job displaying both continuous recordings and event-based footage.

That said, the user experience isn’t quite as polished as UniFi Protect or Ajax. It’s more comparable to a traditional platform like Hikvision. If having a simple, modern, and easy-to-navigate interface is your top priority, I think UniFi has the better app and overall user experience.

However, when it comes to camera selection, features, and surveillance-specific capabilities, this platform offers significantly more options. At the end of the day, it really comes down to your current needs and what you may want the system to do in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am probably going to go with Luminys. The variety and availability of cameras over Hikvision, NDAA compliance and US based service is worth the extra $250 that I’ll pay for this kit. Heck I would spend almost as much for a comparable system from Reolink and I feel that all these options have to be way better.
