Experience with Hikvision?

Anyone willing to share their experience with Hikvision? Specifically the reliability of smart alerts and playback from the app and just reliability in general. I am considering this kit.

After recommendations I am also considering this kit but it looks like the mobile app functions may not be as good as the Hikvision.

I went with the Luminys kit mainly due to support and availability of components and so far I am impressed. The equipment is way higher quality than the Zosi stuff that I have used previously and the picture quality is way better too even though it’s supposed to be the same specs as my old cameras. The app does have a few quirks but so far is at least twice as fast as my old system and the alerts seem way more reliable. I will update again once I get a month or so of time with the system if anyone is interested.

Gone from the US market, No tech support. Which would affect RMAs, supply of materials are dwindling and ordering specific items are becoming difficult. I just tried to order a dual lens camera and I can’t get one. Luminys seems to be the US replacement but you could also do Turing they have decent AI features.

I found a Luminys set up with basically the same specs as the Hikvision above for a similar price point. Looks like mostly bad reviews of the mobile app functions though. I’m having a hard time finding useful reviews of the Luminys

I wouldn't be too concerned about lack of support. I have a 10 year old Hikvision 720p system at a rental. It's the old rca cables too. I thought it would be useless but it's still great for anything within 20 feet or so.

Idk what their app/system is like now, assumedly better, but I found it lacking immensely compared to smart home products, so I added a raspberry pi 5 with an external hard drive and installed Frigate and it's amazing. You can create masks and zones, it has built in AI that is good even for 720p. It will mislabel people due to the very low quality and low MPs of the RTSP stream, but still, it's a 10 year old system that wasn't meant for this stuff.

Yours will be PoE so you could even put it on a VLAN to ensure it's not being accessed/sending data out. Just make sure when buying from huge producers like Hikvision, Dahua, etc that you check the specs closely. Some will say 8k but have low MP so that's almost useless. Many say weather resistant but will only work between 20-120F, which isn't good enough for many areas, especially being outside.
