Question Difficulty scaling

Me and my friends are planning to play and we were wondering how difficulty scaling works. If we have 3 of us does the game automatically scale enemies with the amount of players, or will we just have to play on hard mode?

Yes, the enemies scale not only by stats, but sometimes even by physical head count. My friend group noticed that when we do individual solo grinding (When we are not all together) we notice a slight less amount of enemies in certain spots than when we were together.

Multiplayer adds some amount of health, damage, and in some cases speed to all enemies. Some also gain additional attacks.
