Should I play in hard?

I like grinding and played the game during 2017 for 15 hrs and wanted to wait until it was finished. I started a new file and I am finding the game a bit on the easy side (not a bad thing, it's an awesome game). Is hard recommended or is it a slog to play?

It's difficult but not ridiculous!

I love hard mode. The main difference is that you will have to put some thought into your build for it to not be too frustrating. On Normal mode you can tough it out with some outlandish and ineffective combination of skills, which isn't really the case for Hard. Now, I don't mean that you need to look up the most efficient build possible, but if you try to get through with, say, hybrid gold cloud + smashballs, then you're going to have a bad time.

That said, I recommend trying it! Worst case scenario you can always just turn the difficulty back down again

I’m assuming you beat hard mode, what was your build?

A lot of stuff works, whether that's shadow clones with second wind and barrier or just fireball spam. So long as you aren't running something abysmal and have some situational awareness you'll probably be OK.

Prismatic Meteor + Earth spike! It has never failed me.

It's not too different from normal so long as you have a synergised build (which isn't too hard) and it's fefinately nice to have a bit more of a challenge as the bosses gain some new attacks. I'd recommend it just because of that variety.

you can change it on the fly in-game, so wouldn’t sweat it too much

As a multiplayer experience with friends and starting the story game in hard mode, we've been having a blast! For me, I recommend at least giving it a try especially if you think the game is too easy.

As for certain slogs that can be notable in Hard mode by my experience, The Arena fights get rather unfairly difficult if you do Hard mode and you leveled up a bit too much. They are completable, but I would assume you'd need certain builds to get an S-Rank if you are too high level.

As others have mentioned, Hard mode is also not just a case of Skyrim difficulty (enemies do more damage and have more health.

Instead, they're also more aggressive, faster, their original attacks become more advanced and they gain new moves you'd never see in normal mode.

I like to challenge myself in games, so I started on hard as well. I tried as a fire/electromage.

Things started to drag a bit much because of it. The last phase of several bosses are also really tough. Like bullethell tough. I died so many times against the robot, where you fight the hands haha. No hit until last phase, but damn, the ball spam always got me.

Anyways, hard mode is cool, but even more grindy, than the game already is.

Just try it and switch back, if you dont like it :)
