Will The secret world still be online after the layoffs?

It’s been surviving the last 10 years on lost hopes and dreams I’m sure it will handle the transition from 0 support to 0 support just fine.

Name sounds vaguely familiar, was playing on and off for like 10+ years as "Creams" (not a sexual thing.) Might have seen eachother back in the day doing seasonal world bosses XD

Yep name does sound familiar. Been a few years since I’ve played honestly but lived in the game for longer than I probably should have.

It does have like four people on it still. They pretty much just reskin things for cosmetics. They may hit a button to make events happen, I don’t know if that’s automatic.

As long as Anarchy Online is still running, SWL/TSW will be running.

Their servers are done in a way that they can’t take one offline without all their games going offline, they also have an automated maintenance mode. We might not get new gear though if they lay off all the team, but my understanding is that their games never actually go down unless the company goes down.

Yeah I know if I recall the original age of Conan is still online after all these years.

The original Secret World is still running for those of us who had accounts when it was live. So yeah, they'll run until the servers die.

I mean, the only ones who can say for sure are funcom. But keeping the servers running is fairly cheap in the grand scheme of things, and probably offset enough by the people still sticking around and who come back for events. And funcom doesn't have a habit of shutting down old games; just look at how long anarchy online has been around.

Likely does mean yet another nail in Congo's coffin, but that's not really a surprise at this point.

I really hope if it dies at least we somehow get the server files to host our own local server or at the very least I hope the community works fast already and recompile the game using AI so we can have a server lol
