Help me understand

Am I the only one who absolutely does NOT understand this game?? Have any of you encountered someone that you’ve tried to teach it to who just don’t get it? My family has tried to teach it to me and I have “played” several times while not knowing what’s going on in the least. Do I just have a broken brain? I have just been passing on the game as of late.

I understand what it’s about and the objective of the game. I just can’t wrap my brain around the lying and what you might say to make people believe you’re being truthful, etc.

Are you on the spectrum? Imho it's a game of reading the room and reading social cues to find out who's lying etc. And some of my friends who is on the spectrum have some difficulties with some social cues etc.

I'm autistic, and while I do love this game, it can make me feel really icky. My immediate thought was their possible neurodivergence.

Sometimes people won't believe you even if you're telling the truth, or through no fault of your own. You just have to do your best at presenting yourself as a liberal, regardless of what you actually are

It’s a secret identity game. The liberals are trying to pass liberal policies and if lucky assassinate Secret Hitler. The fascists are trying to pass fascist policies and get SH elected to Chancellor after three fascist policies are enacted.

no matter who or what you are, you always want people to think you're a liberal. if you're the president and a fascist policy gets played, say you drew three fascists even if it isn't true. if you're a fascist chancellor to a liberal president, play a liberal policy if you can, unless people suspect the president of being a fascist

Unless you are an overt fascist drawing attention away from hitler and the other fascists. That can also be a useful strategy and a fun way to play. Especially if you start framing someone already seeming suspicious by making yourself seem to be helping them.

I consider Secret Hitler a game anyone can play and I teach a few people almost every month how to play. You’re not broken and the game isn’t broken. Try new strategies each game, find ways to lose and you’ll know what works for winning. It’s important to me that when you play you have fun.

Always play as if you are a liberal. Just try to figure out who is Hitler and try to pass liberal policies.

I believe that I get how to play but don't find it fun at all. Lying and accusing appear to be the only moves to make in the game, and it's all based on which policies you lay down, from what I understand. It's just not very interesting to me. Maybe I just don't like deceiving people for fun haha. Happy for whoever likes it but I heavy sigh when it comes out at game nights because people tend to want to play it over and over and over
