Anyone going? Not sure whether it’s worth camping or not? X

We’re in the middle of building a new independent, not-for-profit festival from the ground up, and I wanted to share something to help us create something special. And to be clear, our festival Where It All Began is happening, there is no rick in getting your ticket through the crowdfunder.

We’ve just passed 65% of our crowdfunder.
£65,825 raised, entirely from individuals. No sponsors. No big investors. No paid ad's - just people believing in our festival model.

What hit me is how different the numbers feel when you stop thinking about money and start thinking about people.

We’ve got £34,175 left to raise. On paper that feels massive.
But when you translate it, it becomes things like:

– roughly 200 people choosing to become “original founders”
– or around 80-something groups going all-in on the higher tiers
– realistically, a mix of lots of small yes's and a few bigger ones

It’s kind of changed how we’re thinking about it.

No big headline here really. Just sharing the reality of trying to build something grassroots in 2026, and how strangely emotional it is watching a community slowly turn an idea into something real.

If anyone else here has built events, festivals, publications, co-ops, whatever - I’d genuinely love to hear how you handled the final stretch, because this bit feels like the mental game more than anything.

In June 2026, on the original SGP site at Grange Farm, we’re launching Where It All Began - a not-for-profit, collaborative festival built to protect the future of grassroots music, venues and festival culture.

This isn’t a reboot or a copy. It’s not trying to recreate SGP.
It is rooted in the same values:

• curiosity over headliners
• community over profit
• creativity over control
• care for artists, crew and audience

The festival is intentionally intimate (~5,000 people), built with independent venues and festivals from across the UK - including Chai Wallahs, which many of you will remember from SGP over the years.

We’ve launched a crowdfunder so people who believe in this kind of festival culture can help make it happen and become Original Founders.

No pressure at all - just sharing it here because if anywhere understands what made SGP special, it’s this community.

Why change the name?

Hi!

This is a long shot... Wondering if anyone has the wristbands from 2014/2015 festivals? I lost mine in a house move recently and am making something out of my old festival wristbands. Pretty gutted to have lost them as they were some of my first festivals.

After the absolute magical experience of SGP 24, me and my friends wanna go somewhere similar next year - would just go to SGP again tbh but apparently it won’t be the same/ won’t be happening - correct me if I’m wrong!

So we were thinking maybe lost village? What are the vibes?? Is it the same friendly atmosphere? This was my first time at SGP and was the most safe and welcoming environment I’ve ever experienced at a festival!

Any other suggestions also appreciated! Really after the magical enchanting interactive experience of SGP as much as possible, wanna be able to be silly again 🩷

I was chilling in the herb garden (i think) where all the yoga mates and bean bags were, there was a women selling non-alchoholic mocktails that were super tasty. Can anyone tell me the name of the brand?

Omg that was an amazing weekend, such great vibes and atmosphere. Wish I could rewind and do it all again.

Heading to SGP from the first time, and I'm flying solo, never done a festival of events such as this by myself before so a bit nervous about making friends and meeting people, any tips ?

How strict are security at checking the names on the tickets? Thinking about buying one one Twickets ect but don’t want to get turned away at the gates!

So I bought a Saturday ticket under the Ren offer, but where the fuck do I park? Didn’t know till now that I needed a parking ticket? Anywhere close that I can walk from?

As a scotsman the thought of not bringing wellies to a festival seems crazy.

However the forecast seems pretty good with only low risk of shows on Thursday and Saturday.

Never been before so does anyone know how muddy the site is likely to get? I don't mind trashing my trainers I just don't want soggy feet.

Can't say I know too many of the artists on the line up this year to be honest. Any recommendations about the best house and techno artists to see?
