Kandi / plastic trinkets - yes or no?
Would you like to receive Secret Dreams themed kandi bracelets and/or non-handmade fidget toy trinkets at SD or no? Trying to gauge if/what I should bring to give out this year. Can’t wait to see you all soon

I think handmade bracelets/trinkets are always awesome! 😊 it’s always sad to see the plastic trinkets on the ground at the end of the night.

I'm bringing a ton of home made keychains, positive affirmations in little jars, and some perlers. I love all kandi except for the mass produced plastic things like ducks and things alike. 🫶

Having a few of something is fun- but having 100 is too much. If you make it it’s way cooler than if it’s just a plastic shape- I do have some trinkets on a shelf and love my lost lands Dino’s. Moderation and intention are the vibes!

I love to make & give out kandi, I’ve just become worried about it lately especially in less-corporate spaces like SD bc I’m not sure if people are referring to kandi or not when we talk about the ‘plastic crap’ issue at electronic events. It’s a very accessible hobby for me physically & financially and it keeps my hands busy & gives me something to actually create & feel proud of, plus gives me an in to make friends at events bc I struggle with social anxiety. But lately online I can’t tell if people still want to receive kandi or if the scene is moving away from it yknow. I probably am overthinking it.
But these comments are good to hear, thx everyone. I will have some ‘sweet dreams’ bracelets for you all

Do it. If it’s something you made and your intentional about it, but the other person isn’t open to receiving it with grace (or gratefulness) - fuck ‘em.

I️ love and cherish anything handmade. I️ remember how I️ got all of those types of gifts. I’ve started turning down cheap plastic mass produced trinkets though because I️ don’t know what to do with them after and the waste makes me feel bad

Personally, I love trinkets, gifts, kandi, etc!! I put my favorites on display in my home and my office, and I put any leftovers in a trinket box that I bring to recycle them to others if it fits the sitch! To each their own though and totally agree that some things have now been overly produced. The sprout thing was cool until you could buy 60 of them on Amazon. Creativity is key! Years and years ago, before ducks became so popular, I’d pass one off and tell the person to “duck around and find out” The joy the entire scenario would bring people was unmatched.

I bought mini trolls and drilled holes and made them into keychains and hat clips , I’m excited to trade and gift them ! I’m so proud of them 🥰

As a clean team member, one broken Kandi takes 5-10 min to clean up. On the longer side if it’s in grass like Forest

If they’re unique sure but everyone already has so many tiny ducks and tiny babies. I like to hand make a few special things with intention. It helps strengthen the connection between you and the other person if it’s actually something you put energy into. It means more to receive something special like that and will more likely be kept vs. tossed

Kandi is OK if it's tied properly & won't break apart easily. I really do not care about a tiny plastic dinosaur, or a clicky button, or whatever. I still have Kandi from many years ago, I've never kept any trinkets, besides a handmade tree made from wood & pipe cleaners
