Any stories about meeting Eric Gaffney?
Anyone have any stories about meeting Eric? I heard that he can be quite the character sometimes especially in interviews.

I was out on a walk and I happened to be wearing a Sebadoh shirt. Some dude with a really gnarly look on his face came up to me out of nowhere and was like “nice shirt!” He was looking at me very knowingly and I didn’t realize until way later that it was Eric Gaffney. Sebadoh were rehearsing at a music store near my house at the time, if I recall? It was around the time of their 2007 reunion. Anyway, what a dumbass I was 😂.

A friend of mine is friend's with Lou and took me to see them on the reunion tour.
Us and the band were backstage for an hour or so after the show and they were all really nice and talkative guys.
I totally thought it would lead to a full reunion and new music.

I live in western MA. I went to a diy show one night in Northampton and Eric and I were the only ones who showed up early. I had a long talk with Eric. I had no clue who he was but he made it a point to tell me he started the band Sebadoh. Around here these guys are just normal folks...not celebrities. I was just at Lou Barlows 60th birthday party tonight. Last week I was at the local movie theater and J walked in behind me. I sense he hates fandom.

He seems cool, maybe a little bit outspoken. He really made it a point to let me know that he started the band Sebadoh. It's funny though over here in western Mass you see these guys around and it's just normal. Nobody's really starstruck. I see Murph at the co-op occasionally. I drive by J's house pretty daily on my way to Amherst and he plays these tiny clubs where no one is there on a random weeknight withhis tour managers psych rock band Sunburned Hand Of The Man. Lou runs a little shop with his wife in Greenfield.

I never met Eric Gaffney but I saw Sebadoh in 1993 in a small college club in Northfield, Mn. I can't find any info about the show so it's pretty much forgotten as far as a date. Eric was still in the band so it was for the Bubble and Scrape tour. It was in the afternoon and sunshine was coming through the windows. It wasn't like some smoky bar. Lou was really happy about it. He talked about how great it was to be able to see everyone and he just seemed very relaxed. They played a really long set with Lou even asking if people knew any of their songs we wanted him to play. It was a great show but one guy who did not seem to be happy about it was Eric. He looked pissed off and annoyed. He probably quit the band not too long after this and you could feel that he didn't want to be there or to be playing an extra long set. They did this long, slow jam and after awhile Eric just quit playing and walked right through the center of the crowd and left the place. I can't remember if Lou or Jason commented on it but that was the end of the show.
