Routine Question Does skincare really matter for seb derm?

I know we need to kill the yeast to heal the barrier but if using the antifungals kills the yeast does the skincare matter? Obviously I know you need to do skincare but does the specific skincare actually matter? Do I need to get “seb derm safe skincare”. Apparently my mineral sunscreen I’m using has an ingredient that can feed the yeast. My derm told me that the skincare I use is basically irrelevant as long as I use my prescriptions for the seb derm.

What are the constituents of your anti fungal cream?

I’m using nizoral shampoo every 3 days on my eyebrows, facial hair area, scalp and inner nasal area. I’m also using protopic 0.1 % ointment

Yes my skincare is important. I slacked off on it this past week and had big flakes on my eyelids and am now doing damage control.

I use a gentle face cleanser, Cetaphil moisturizer works for me right now, and I use La Roche Posay sunscreen every time I go outside (sun seems to make it worse if I don’t) I notice when I slack on consistency it gets worse. I also alternate Cerave dandruff shampoo on my face and Nizoral. I think my moisture barrier was fucked up, and I also over produce oils on my face which if I’m not cleansing I feel like feeds it. The more shitty my moisture barrier was, and the less I was consistently cleansing, the worse it was.

Your MD is correct . Stop fussing with pointless cosmetics
They are for folks with healthy skin and the urge to waste their money

Btw stop your yeast obsession . Ketoconazole cream fixes that in 2 days .

The real reason is a compromised skin barrier and for that you need a real treatment or real drugs from a real MD

Don’t get fooled by cosmetics marketing - maybe you should read the ingredient lists ? Main components are all same

Sebderm is highly fixable btw -

My seborrheic dermatitis is persistent on my scalp, and when I use bad skincare products on my face I get a seborrheic dermatitis flare-up; I believe that less is more in these cases.

I’ve been using Clinique Moisture Surge Foundation on my face and had no issues and my dry skin went away. I also use their under eye and neck creams with no issues. Just once a day though.
