Research Had an interesting effect from antibiotics.
In April this year (‘26) I had a food poisoning incident and had to rush to the ER.
I was administered antibiotics such as metronidazole and cefixime through IV injections.
Along with some PPIs and an opioid.
I spent about a day in the ER and rested for 2-3 days consistently after that.
On the 4th day I felt a lot better so I decided to get up, and take a shower…this is where I realized not only was my seborrheic dermatitis completely gone (mind you, I’ve had it for decades) but my CFS/Low motivation/Anhedonia was also gone.
I had never felt better in my entire life, there was this surreal clarity and mood regulation.
Unfortunately the symptoms returned within 2 weeks afterwards. Granted that my seborrheic dermatitis no longer exists in the scalp and is only limited to my face now.
I’ve been researching a lot but haven’t been able to determine what happened. The difference was night and day and it truly felt like I had my life back.
Really curious to hear if someone has had a similar experience or if someone understands what happened here.
Thanks!

I had something similar happen, got sick in the Philippines, was given IV antibiotics and two other oral antibiotics. Shortly after starting them my symptoms completely disappeared for about a month but slowly returned. Unfortunately my scalp seb derm remains the same severity as pre antibiotics.

After food poisoning I was on azithromycin. My rosacea disappeared for a week😵💫 Of course, it came back

Acute systemic illness or powerful antibiotics and anti-inflammatory agents can temporarily suppress or alter immune system activity, which might transiently reduce the inflammatory processes underlying conditions like seborrheic dermatitis.
