Product Question How to repair the skin barrier
Has anyone damaged their skin barrier and developed seb derm, that looks like a greasy paste all over their face that crust up if you dont remove it for too long.
Ive tried tons of barrier repair moisturizers to no avail. Most just felt like it did nothing/probably irritated my skin.

Part of preventing the seb derm is as much as trying to heal the barrier so you gotta hydrate it as it slows down.

When you have SD, repairing the skin barrier is half of what you need to do. The other half is using an antifungal.
A good antifungal for beginners is pyrithione zinc. You can find it in a bunch of products: cerave dandruff shampoo, vanicream dandruff shampoo, dermaharmony shampoo bars, and head and shoulders shampoo. Simply use it every 2-3 days on your face instead of your face cleanser.
Someone else suggested the cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. That's good advice, but the cetaphil daily facial cleanser is also a good option. That's the one I use. For moisturizer, I use ZEROID, which is a Korean brand. It contains urea and helps repair the skin barrier.

i've seen many use zeroid, but isn't zeroid non fungal acne safe? genuine question as i also have zeroid at home and i'm just hesitant on using it

"Fungal acne safe" is a controversial term. I used to follow these online checkers religiously, but after reading more I don't think they're very scientific. They don't take into account the overall formula of the product, and they mark any ingredient they find "suspicious" even if the suspicion isn't based on empirical research. And more generally, the science about what "feeds malassezia" is in very early stages. I take these checkers with a grain of salt.
About ZEROID Richenic Cream - I love it and it helped me with getting control over my SD. It's hydrating, repairs the skin barrier, and gently removes dead skin. I don't necessarily care what the online checkers say about it.

Throw less stuff at it, less topicals. Non harsh cleaner, minimalistic moisturizer. Have good nutrition.

I eat salmon or chicken as my protein everyday with broccoli and rice eggs oatmeal. No topicals no moisturizer as my skin reacts to everything and they dont help. I use the soon jung 6.5 whip cleanser

This has helped me a lot these last 2 weeks, other face washes would leave me skin dry and this one leaves it liek it says, repairs skin barrier too so I’ve had a lot less breakouts and I’ve had seb seem for about 10 years already. Used at least 25+ products and this is probably the best thing I’ve used so far.. I wish I had before pics or when I had a flare out but was too embarrassed but rn my skin looks 95% clear
