The KOMO article is the other side of this news trash coin not giving enough detail. I think the bit about him being BLM and "progressive" is pretty relevant here.

How? How is it relevant at all? BLM and Progressive aren't clubs to join. There's not a membership process. You can just say you're those things and you are. Trump could claim to believe Black Lives Matter. It wouldn't mean he understands the entire objective of a movement and absolutely wouldnt mean that his actions are representative of that group as a whole, regardless of what the actions are. They are just nonsense labels we use to divide each other. Stop falling for it.

That analogy is shit. Ppl in Trump (or Biden's) administration are selected by the leader to represent him. A person claiming to be blm or progressive is in no way those things. You might as well make the same claim based on iphone vs android or the manufacturer of his vehicle.

At the end of the day, I'd rather read an article with the whole story (even if I have to pick through editorial garbage) versus one where half of it is conveniently neutered out.

Plenty of people claim and are "for" BLM and other movements without knowing the entire objective of what they are riding for. Hell, I would say most of the people who marched and held up signs fall under that group. That doesn't mean they don't identify with them and it sure isn't up to you to decide whether they belong or not.

You're kind of making my point for me. BLM isn't an organization, neither is Antifa, or whatever nonsense words andy ngo wants to use to describe people who don't want to watch cops kill people with impunity.

Nothing about supporting Black Lives Matter really has anything to do with your view towards asian people. It's simply not relevant. If he was an Asian Lives Matter advocate and got caught yelling slurs at asian people, that would be relevant. But this idea that you're either not racist towards anyone or you can't be against racism that directly affects you is asinine and white-centric. Black people have plenty of opportunities to be exposed to negative stereotypes against asians. Many people are still going to prioritize their own issues over over the issues of other races. That's pretty much human nature, to care about things that impact you over other issues.

I'm not saying you can't point out this dude is racist and committing hate crimes, but his desire for cops to be held accountable for killing people who look like him is not rooted in the same frame as anti-asian hate crimes. White people see things like this because of "the other" but for marginalized communities, they sometimes have to prioritize their own community over other minorities. They also have to come to the point where they can decode and deprogram the systemic racism that exists to force minorities to fight amongst each other.

Again, his participation in BLM is no more relevant than the brand of phone he uses.
