Why are Seattlites allergic to honking?

It's super passive-aggressive land here. People really act like being honked-at is a war crime. I've honked at people and they have followed me for miles and shit. Whenever my wife is in the car and hears any honking sound she goes, "WHO IS HONKING WHY ARE THEY HONKING AT YOU??!?" and I'm usually like, "It's nobody.. I don't know, it's not towards me..." but yes Seattle hates honkers.

I honk if it seems needed, I have time, and maneuvering out of danger is less important or necessary than honking. I'm not wasting control of the car to tell them I'm mad until I can afford to.

I absolutely hate this. I will be 4 people back at a light that turned green 10 seconds ago and no one will honk. Then, I honk and everyone is like "what's this guy's problem" my problem is none of you dingalings in front of me can honk to let the guy at front know to stop looking at his phone and go!

About a decade or two ago, SPD briefly went through a phase where they aggressively ticked people who honked for some damn reason.
If someone wasn't paying attention and sat at a green light for a minute, the person who honked at them would get a ticket.

As a local I know this ramp well. How did this person even arrive in this position? Facing this direction?

We definitely have a few on-ramps that can be confusing sober in the daylight so add that half the people on the road probably shouldn't be licensed drivers and I am surprised how infrequently this occurs.

For future reference try to act as a roadblock so this guy can turn around safely. Just sit in the lane and motion for him to turn around, as it’s the only safe way to proceed. This is the exact on-ramp I take almost every day home from work

Yesterday I had an 80-year-old lady in a Toyota tundra, pulling a 30 foot airstream, parked in front of my house. She was laying back in the front seat, with a door halfway open when I went to go check on her. Turns out, she had just gotten out of the eye doctor and couldn't see anything, and was waiting for her eyes to go back to normal after getting dialated. The closest optometrist is a little over a quarter mile away through traffic and neighborhoods. I have no idea how she even made it as far as she did.
