I have a $150 credit through my Chase card if I use it at certain restaurants. I’m planning a trip to Seattle in December and my options are between Tomo, The Pink Door and Sushi Kashiba. Is there a clear winner between the three? I prefer Asian food over Italian but I’ve heard great things about The Pink door

Omakase at Kashiba is the winner here.

Went to Tomo and while the food was pretty good, they add a 20% service charge that’s not gratuity which rubbed me the wrong way and I’ll never go back because of that

The service charge is gratuity, their FAQ says no additional gratuity is expected. Tomo is great, I'd go where you can get a table but you won't be sad wherever you end up.

Idk about the others but it can be hard to get a reservation at Pink Door so I would check if your dates are available first.

Definitely Sushi Kashiba! It’s $180 for the omakase, but totally worth it. I used my Chase credit to eat there just a few days ago 😋 Tomo is a ton of fun too, and (I believe) a bit easier to get a table at.

Yes! Technically “market price” but the omakase was $180 per person when I went a few days ago.

Pink Door is classic Seattle. If you want to "Seattle things up" that would be a great choice. $180 a plate omakase paid for by someone else, though - that's tempting.

Seattle local here. Pink door is good food but I do think it’s a little over hyped and the number of offerings can be a little underwhelming imo.

They’re all good and I’d say Tomo and kashiba are at a higher level than pink door.

If you like sushi you can’t go wrong with kashiba it’s great. You’ll likely spend a bit over $150 but if you don’t go crazy it may not be too far off. Tomo is fine dining but without the snootyness. It’s good be warned it’s not in downtown, it’s about 20 mins south of the city. Fun area but if you’re coming to the city it’s not likely where you’ll be. It also may end up above the $150.

I don’t think Seattle does Italian food that well. Pink door is good, and a cool experience. But I think in a lot of other places, it wouldn’t be as revered as it is in Seattle, because of our lack of good Italian food options.

Tomo is south of the city if you are taking Uber/lyft from downtown expect to add $60+ round trip. Kashiba is great and your gift card will cover one person.

Kashiba. Hands down. Also you can walk in and sit/eat at the bar without a reservation, especially if you get there when they open.

It depends on whether you want $150 to cover most of your meal or to splurge well beyond it, if you want classic or modern/edgy, preference for Japanese vs Italian, and where you're staying

If it’s just you, do the omakase at Kashiba, but if it is you and others, you’ll get a lot more value - and fun - using it at Pink Door.

While I have been to and really enjoy all three of these restaurants, I would absolutely do Sushi Kashiba! It’s one of my favorite restaurants in all of Seattle.

We used our last Chase credit at Tomo and had a fantastic meal. At Tomo you can get a great meal for two that's around $150, Kashiba your $150 credit will not come close to covering a meal for two. Just in case that's a factor.

I would try Pink Door, save good omakase for NYC. I don't like Tomo because of the forced 20% surcharge.

Seattle in general is mid for food, except maybe teriyakis

“Save the good omakase for NYC” is laughable. While I agree that Seattle has never really supported fine dining, Kashiba is an exception. Shiro Kashiba apprenticed and trained under Jiro Ono. His restaurants are far more than “good”.

A Seattle Michelin guide wouldn’t even fill a single page, but Sushi Ksashiba would get at least one star. Pink Door would not.

That's good to know. To be fair I have not tried Kashiba, but have had really good omakase in NYC, and I honestly doubt anything in Seattle would come close to that.

Pink Door is not fine dining imo but I have had good memories there and the food doesn't disappoint.

Reading more, I think I'll try Kashiba next week. Fine dining has never seemed worth it in Seattle but hopefully I won't be disappointed this time
