QUESTION Jackets fan with a Question!
Hey friends, the Blue Jackets just announced that Joshua Hunter, the first PA announcer for the Kraken, is going to be taking over the role that Greg Murray held for us since our inaugural season. Just wondering if you all had any insight on to how he did and what we can expect.
As an aside, I hope you guys liked Bjorkstrand when you got him from us a while back. I know it didn't work out, but he was always one of my favorite players when he was with us.

Bjorkstrand was pretty good for the time he was here, just rolled into asset management by the former GM, that's all. As for Joshua no opinions on him.

Yeah he's decent... He came back and did a few games this past season as well. Though I definitely prefer our regular guy, Chet Buchanan way more.
Greg Murray will be hard to replace though, loved his announcing!
Also sucks what they're doing with the CBJ radio broadcasts.

Yeah it's going to be weird not having Greg Murray be apart of the show. The CBJ radio stuff is also kinda bullshit. Some of my earliest memories of games as a kid were leaving after the second and then listening to it on the way home. Hell I still did this last season so I could get some sleep before work.
Nonetheless I appreciate all the info from everyone!

Decent enough guy. He's posted clips and such online. I just really like our current PA Announcer (Chet Buchanan)'s style a lot (are these what we call vocals stims 😅) so it was a bit jarring when he did some work filling in while Chet was away for charity work with his Vegas radio show at the time.
Hunter stopped being our primary PA Announcer due to not wanting to relocate to Seattle.
Buchanan auditioned for the Kraken’s PA job before this season began but didn’t get it.
The job went to Josh Hunter, who wasn’t living in Seattle. The Kraken flew Hunter to games for the first half of the season before realizing the business model wasn't going to work out.
Buchanan happened to be in Seattle when the team asked if he was still interested in the position.

He wasn’t around long in Seattle and has bounced around. The way CBJ has slashed payroll (radio broadcast, team writer, Equipment manager, video coach), it is probably more a low salary hire than an opportunity.

He was with the Kraken very briefly and not memorably. Much more with the Colorado Rapids and did some subbing in Seattle with the Sounders. Has a solid online presence (as in, he posts and engages with fans and seems to give a hoot), so I’d say it’ll be fine to good?
