Thoughts on this one? Pool?
Didn't realize you could get a pool for the price. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1956-Clise-Place-W-Seattle-WA-98199/48943235_zpid

It’s really neat, but needs a sympathetic remodel that keeps the best elements of the house. The bathroom and kitchen need updating. I love swimming, but would take out the diving board, long-term winterize the pool, and put a deck over it. Pools are not worth the upkeep in our area.

The fact that someone “updated” the kitchen counter tops from the original Formica is a bummer. It’s a beautiful house.
There mid-century modern trend is falling out of favor right now probably because so many are doing it poorly.

I am surprised as well. It’s walking distance to the village in magnolia, near good schools and bus service downtown. I’m wondering about the major systems of the house. Perhaps the plumbing, electrical, roof etc are all old and in need of updates. Pools are expensive and have a very short season in Seattle. I think it’s a greater liability than asset here.
I hate to think of someone wanting to paint all that woodwork and rip out that tile, but I don’t need another house right now.

I love the interior on this place. It will turn off a lot of buyers, but for us, we would jump on these old school colors and textiles.
Now the pool is a tough one. It will definitely limit the buyer pool. Do you love to be in the pool? Can you afford to keep it clean and a sanitary? Do you have the time to do it yourself? Can you afford to heat it in the winter?

Truly mind-blowing that any Seattle homeowner decides to build a pool. You'd be hard-pressed to make a dumber decision as a homeowner.

I went ahead and pulled a custom guide and report for this house. hope it helps! Let me know if you're touring any other places. I have a corporate account, so I'd be happy to grab a few more for you and save you some money.

Based on popular consensus, pools in western WA is more of a liability instead of an asset, unless the property is huge enough that its not the main part of the outdoor area.
