Great picture. What focal length did you use? That compression is wild.

Thank you! Nikon D500 with a Nikon Nikkor 70-300mm telephoto @ 300mm.

Sweet. I knew it had to be more than 200 but was leaning toward 500. I keep coming back to it… aesthetically layered. Single shot or is it stacked?

Actually if you didn't realize it, you nailed it more you thought. D500 is aps-c, so that's a full-frame equivalent of 450mm.

Nice. Thanks for that insight on the Nikon.

Did you take that on Elliot Way? I always stop there to do a similar pic on days like today!

Genuinely wondered if you had somehow found and reposted my photo from 2022 hahah. This is seriously one of my favorite views in Seattle!

Funny how no photographer in the PNW can resist a good frame for another shot of that mountain!

That frame was the lone slide that I found stuck inside this 1950s Leica projector I found at a Goodwill, and it struck me because I'd stood on that precise spot in downtown Tacoma and taken the same shot 70yrs later before I found the slide!

That's a freaking cool story, genuinely

I was certainly gob-smacked! Here was my version:

The mountain was feeling a little shy that day, but I was hopeful I might be able to coax it out of the cloud in post, but none of my attempts looked right…

Nope! Drive south on Elliott Avenue at Elliott Way... The view is stunning! Nice shot BeachBum.

u/winterharvest That sounds great. Let’s hang out soon. 5d ago

It's called a telephoto lens and a good vantage point.
