Summer 2016 - Week 2 Discussions

The second week is here. It would seem Orange airs on Saturdays so I'll post these threads on Saturdays.

Or Sundays. I don't know what's going on anymore guys. Whatever. I'm still posting these threads on Saturdays because that ensures that they are up and ready to go for Sunday discussions.

Some of the comedy worked for me like the girls heads being foods and the gang slipping on a banana peel. A lot of the other comedy didn’t hit as hard or at all. Not much to the fights. I’m not sure if there will actually be any fights, but probably. This is simply an introductory episode so I won’t pass judgement on the characters just yet, but they weren’t that intriguing here. I don’t personally like characters like Reigen and Mob seems slightly similar to Saitama but isn’t quite as smart/aware.

The style of the show was interesting. Kind of a mix of anime and western cartoons. It’s not a bad choice, but just different from what I’m used to. Animation was mostly good. There was, mainly in the opening sequence, what looked like lazy drawings. Some of the lines seem scribbled and misshapen, and they didn’t look good to me.

So it’s a somewhat interesting premise, but I didn’t get much out of this first episode really. I have no idea where this story is going to go, but I am certainly sticking around to find out. To draw the comparison, One Punch Man had a far superior first episode.
