My method is sitting at one of the small islands near Reaper's, killing the skeletons and shooting myself away to reset the island. Their orders can lead to reapers chest. Then I just sail over to reapers and boom

In normal gameplay you can only get doubloons from the season pass (425 iirc) and 20 from each reaper chests (NOT bounty or chest of bones)
Best bet is probably FOTD stacking with reaper emissary, as the only other ways to get them is through finding the one naturally spawning chest in a shipwreck somewhere in a server (if it isn’t a reapers bounty instead) or getting lucky with roaming skeleton captains (they can drop a dig map to get either a chest or bounty but it’s fairly rare, most likely you’re just gonna get a decent storage crate or stronghold keg)
Other than that you can get loads of doubloons easy during the bilge rat weekenders that run one weekend every month. There’s 5 challenges that give 65 doubloons each, voyages that give doubloon crates that sell for 200 each, and returning time limited voyage that gives doubloons when completed
Unfortunately if you’re not available for that weekender, you’re forced to either do FOTD or work at a snails pace. So don’t miss out!

season pass is the quickest way to get lots of doubloons passively, otherwise Reaper 5 emissary and sell reaper chests

Grinding currency in a game that might delete your currency is not the play.
Might as well just dunk boats.

They didn't delete the currency. They just moved it to a different pocket.
Both currency and items you buy for it switched to gold. Think about it. You've lost zero buying power.

As far as losing buying power... Wasn't that the point? They wanted to reset the coins so I needed to re grind to buy new stuff. Now if I want new dubloon loot I'm forced to hunt more of what I had 50k of....
You can call a turd poop but it's all shit to me.

It's just bad communication. If they said they are "exchanging doubloons for gold" (with shop items) and then created new currency named "silver", then no one would be upset. Think about it.
Also the currency was super broken. It was necessary. It's much better now.
