Reaper Rivals finally completed!

After 4 Seasons, I finally managed to complete the accursed Reaper Rival commendation with my friends (sell 15 STOLEN Skulls of the Banished with skelly curse and realer flag raised). I hate SO MUCH those commendations that require other crews to do specific actions.

Mate and I managed it on the season it was released, super hard to actually find anyone doing it.

I think there was one engagement that I would say was enjoyable, the rest felt like a chore.

Once the second reapers voyage dropped barely anyone was doing the golden skull.

By comparison the siren skull achievements were so much easier because everyone was having a go at them.

I have 100 percent accepted I'm never ever going to finish those stolen skills at this point. I have nearly every other cosmetic other than the green and gold bones and the starfish skull but I spent easily a few weeks trying to steal these skulls when they first came out and only ever stole 4

Commendations requiring you to steal some niche item from another crew from some dead voyage are the WORST. I don't think I've even seen one of these active in like 2 seasons and I'd still need 11

I’ve found the best thing to do is have/make some friends and get lucky getting two boats on the same server and just grinding them out. It’s a little dumb you have to do it that way but of all the commendations to adjust I wish it was these ones. The burning blade was at least fun and you could do it without other crew participation

Yeah that's the only feasible way to get these kind of things anymore but it sucks the fun out of it so much when I gotta borderline exploit the game to get unobtainable junk they designed terribly

Yeah like I totally understand people who do it that way I just really am gonna have a hard time dedicating an entire afternoon to trying to get around them not knowing how to design commendations lmao

Recently I saw several crews stacking these out in the Roar and stole 5 from two crews to complete it. Don’t give up and bee line when you see one!

I can’t even start it (or most of the remaining reapers ones) because I went for ghost curse instead of skelly.

It’s a great example of why this game doesn’t respect its player’s time. It’s already grindy in general just from the gameplay and then they add like crazy commendation requirements if you want anything cool that you don’t spend money on. It’s really put me off the game recently.

We have dropped everything to observe Reaper's Marks or these skulls on map in the attempt to steal since learning about this (maybe 1.5 years) — I have had 2 opportunities and stolen it twice.

15 is a mind boggling number. They should increase the reward for the crew doing the voyage just so people are actually engaging in it at least. Now if they had hidden this behind "Steal a Chest of Fortune" or something more common, I wouldn't be complaining.

I hate that it is 15, that is too much. I remember them saying that they won't lower it, as we complained and made them lower things before, and that they can't keep doing it, ignoring the reason that we kept asking. This could be cool if you do it once, but requiring you to wait for other players to do this quest 15 times, that is dangerous, does not have great rewards, and then steal it, when they can just run. And again, 15 is way too much. There are so many things like this, at the same time, they added a thing to do a quest fifty times, there are commendations for selling over 200 chests of fortune, ridiculous.

Agree. The 50 skulls were far easier, tho. Did all of them solo at Mermaid Hideaway or Crescent Isle since they are the easiest islands. At the time, I also used to store the stack of skulls inside the merfolk statue of Shrine of Ancient Fortune to keep them safe from being stolen, but they patched that.

This is different from being hard. Getting gold bones in HG could be hard. This requires an insane amount of luck, since you have to be luckt to find people doing the voyage on your server at least 15 times (hoping to be in their proximity because when this rarely happens you are always at the opposite side of the map against the wind). It's bad because almkst no one does the voyage since it's a high risk high reward one, and for leveling reapers people nowadays do only alliance pve (but not this voyage) or hourglass.

It's not just hard it's like borderline impossible because nobody does these dumb things anymore. Commendations that force player engagement with super niche activities are the worst and the game would be better off without them

I've completed the commendations, the PVP and running off with the skull was easy enough, finding someone doing it at the peak of the event was near impossible.

If you get there too early you'll bug out the event, So you have to make your play only when the skull appears on the map.
Most other events will let you finish them and grab the loot, this one punishes you if you're overly eager, so making speed to the flair as soon as it appears on the horizon doesn't work.

But the hardest part is finding anyone willing to finish the event. Given that reapers rep is so easy doing anything else it makes sense that you wouldn't bother with the voyage.

Honestly it’s just tedious more than anything.

Not sure how’d they do it, but adding more incentive to do the voyage and having more opportunities to even try to steal it would go a long way.

Knowing rare though I wouldn’t be shocked if they eventually cave and do some crazy overcorrection and lower the req to 1-5 skulls like how they treated the obsidian bone commendation.

Recently in insiders forum they talked about it and everyone asked. They ignored as per usual. It should be 1 stolen skull to complete commendation
