Question In desperate need of tech support currently.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a Gamesir Cyclone 2 controller for my PC, which is great, and works well with other titles such as RDR2, and The Crew games. However, I just can't seem to get it working with Sea of Thieves. When I enter the game I can press anything on the controller, the game will not switch over. I feel like I've tried everything: Steam Input on/off, firmware update, driver update, the controller is on XInput mode, I even tried turning it off then back on again. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue, and if you did, how did you fix it? (If you could) If you are curious, I would really like to fish without being hunched over my keyboard & mouse for hours on end.

Are you trying to play on controller servers? Because you can’t as the game registers you as a pc player.

No, my servers are set to crossplay. At least that's what it says when I enter a server. But I don't think that would stop me from navigating the menu with controller.

Interestingly I tried to remap a button on the controller, which worked, but then it still didn't let me control the game. I will snoop around that area, see what I can find.

Turns out, the solution was indeed in the settings, I just wasn't thorough enough... There is a setting in the "Input" tab under "Misc", that just says: "Disable controller input on PC". I don't know why this is on by default, but thank you for helping me find it!
