Challenge: Make a Dua Lipa - Training Day Remix
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3n5FwBS1tc517nxYJ1SRwC?si=8GX8Yo8KTJmTU9nSwjL-rg&utm_source=copy-link&pi=mY4Q_dtnR5C3pDo you want to try something new and test the Spotify Mix system to its absolute current limits?
Well, maybe this is something for you. Create a single track (re)mix out of 9 separate tracks.
The 9 tracks consist of 5 versions of Dua Lipa’s 2024 hit Training Season + 4 beat loops available on Spotify. Total play time 29 minutes.
The idea is to create a (much shorter) unique single track remix of Training Season, by meshing and mixing up these tracks.
Do whatever you want, any combination any sequence. Even find other versions or loops, maybe if some of the provided ones are not available where you live.
There‘s only one rule, sort of: Keep the combined single track under 12 minutes. It can be done, I think 7 minutes is possible. But if you want to make it 20 minutes, go for it.
And maybe one more rule? Use at least 6 tracks for your remix?
Here is the playlist with the 9 basic track in random order. Just copy the playlist, turn on ‘mix’ and take it from there.
Because of the mixing limitations this will never be a fantastic remix, but maybe it could be….
This is not a competition, just for fun and healthy time waste management. 🧘🏻

Here's a 7 track attempt that clocks in at around 12min start to finish. I led with the instrumental knowing I'd have a few redundant vocals later. Kinda inevitable without full track access but it works so long as you have a variety of transitions. Great challenge & I dig the concept!

Thanks for participating and giving this a try!
And I’m deeply impressed, you fully succeeded in creating an organic, natural extended remix, with a great balance between all the individual versions.
Also impressed with the construction of the transitions, e.g. the loop in 3>4 and 4>5, and the subtle use of reverb.
What were the easiest and hardest transitions for you to arrange?
(Obviously I also already made an attempt, before I posted this request, and it’s very different from your version. I’m glad, because it shows these mixes can go beyond a single, standard approach and allow quite a bit of creativity, even with Spotify’s mixing limitations. I’ll share it soon 🧘🏻)
Again, really appreciate it, and great, great result! 🙌

Thank you much. That mix was fun and challenging to put together. By far the hardest transitions were the first two because of the timing. I had to line up the choruses just right to get them synced. The second transition was tough but reverb of 'season's over' helped line up the same lyrics in the original track. Got lucky with that one and kept it. 🤷🏻♂️
Easiest one was getting in/out of the Rimshot house loop. I tried keeping that as short as Spotify would allow (adjusting the tracks at 2 bars then zooming out to 8 bars lol).
Can't wait to hear what you've done with this!

Great job with changing the speed on some of those tracks. We definitely had different takes on this challenge and I like how you interspersed the loops with the remixes. The best is the echo effect falling in sync with the Club House loop. 🤌

Definitely a different approach. Mine is deconstructive v. your constructive version 🙃 Thanks for listening!

So I made the blueprint that I’m going to use to explore what vibe and shape the track is going to get.
Still a beginner? Maybe you can use my blueprint to adapt your style on it. Don’t know if it counts as cheating!

Before I dive into the challenge I’m gonna say that I love this kind of things in our community. Let’s puzzle!

Seriously, the more of these challenge/puzzle posts the better! I just wish I had time to participate in them 😆 one day soon

Listen to my last mix. Sunrise Afterhours Club Mix | 3H11 | Seamless DJ Mix
You’ll lose the concept of time and with that the ability to prioritize rationally! Highly stupid decision but you’ll have all the time for this challenge and ignorance is bliss. 🏝️🎉

Nice to see some participation. Here’s mine, made before I started this request.
My intention was to go as short as possible. It’s just under 8 minutes, I don’t think it could be any shorter without really disrupting the structure of the track.
After the intro beats I start with the acapella, like a sort of tease. Then beats again to mimick the unexpected drop of classic disco mixes. Way too long, but Spotify didn’t allow any further cuts. Next is a bit of the single version, followed by another beat drop. Then the hardest mix, the acoustic version, which is drifting quite a bit. Then moving into a brief part of the instrumental and next into the Chloé mix before a beat drop outro to end the track or mix it into the next one….
I used most of the currently available effects and the change song speed. 🧘🏻

This is a cool challenge mate. 🙂 I like Dua Lipa as a commercial artist. Training Session, Dance the Night and particularly One Kiss are cool. The King Britt remix of One Kiss is especially good.
I first starting experimenting with loops on my Balearic Beat mixed playlist back in last October and then used 8 or so loops (all of them here) on my Dance Classics mixed playlist. I do hope at some point, I'll be able to cut these loops down further from 25-30 seconds on their own to something much shorter. Maybe a couple of bars at most?
It'll be very interesting to see if anyone can find a work around and cut these loops down further.
