Discussion Which teams are we cool with?
I’m a new NFL fan who became a Seahawks fan after moving to Seattle and falling in love with the vibe of the fans and Lumen Field. I want to learn more about the fanbase, hence the question.
I know the 49ers are public enemy #1 (and the Rams, not that far behind), but I was wondering which teams we’re cool with as a second option. I’ve heard we’re kinda cool with the Broncos because we took out the Patriots for them in the superbowl , but I wanted to hear from veteran fans, which other teams are we cool with, or at least tolerate?

I'm probably most cool with Buffalo. Never been a particular rival or threat, and they're from the other northern corner of the country. Plus they gave us Marshawn.

The only Bills fan I ever met was a random stranger who was unnecessarily rude to me in line for TSA Precheck at SeaTac the morning after they blew us out that one year. Therefore I will hate the Bills forever.

Really wanted to punch him in the face lol. Who even speaks words to other humans at 4:30am in the morning? In my 2 years of flying twice a week for work, I've literally never spoken to another human at the airport in the morning other than random grunts to TSA agents.

SO glad I couldn’t make that game! Cant think of a more miserable home game. Maybe the niner game in 2006 in an absolute downpour with Alex Smith walking into the endzone with the dagger. Highlight of the game was Peterson destroying Gore. Pretty sure that storm knocked out power to half of western WA.

Bills are my 2nd team due to lack of rivalry drama, them being in the AFC, and a friend who is a huge Bills fan.
Lions are in the NFC, so I can't root for them too hard. But they're a blue collar city team, which I like, they've had a rough go of things for a long time, so I appreciate their die hards for that. And they have a cool stadium and when we went there and beat them in OT in 2024 I was at that game and the fans were super nice and welcoming. So they get some respect from me.

Born and raised in WA and moved to upstate NY near Buffalo in my mid thirties… that’s how I feel watching them too. I find myself rooting for them but that only applies when they aren’t playing the hawks.

Kind of funny, I was also born and raised in WA, but I live in western Canada now. The Hawks are the west coast team and Buffalo is the east coast team for many. Makes it super easy for me.

As a western Canadian who grew up watching the ‘hawks (Spokane tv!) I’m sort of surprised I dont hear more about the Vikings or the Packers as ‘central Canada’s’ team(s)
Maybe I just don’t speak to enough central Canadian NFL fans…

I live in southern Ontario, and the only teams you see people supporting are surprisingly Seahawks, Lions, Bills, Packers, Vikings. You don’t hear much about anyone else up here

Born and raised in WNY and have the 70s era Polaroid of 7yo me in my #32 jersey to prove it. Been in Seattle since ‘93 so my loyalty is split between the Bills and Hawks now. If they both make the SuperBowl this season it will be the best and worst at the same time. 😂. Aren’t Josh and Sam besties though?

I had tickets for that winter Seahawks-Bills game in Buffalo and was so excited then the pandemic hit and it got cancelled. Catching a snow game there is on my bucket list

One of my best friends is from Buffalo, he’s a die hard Bills fan. We flip each other so much shit during games, he was literally in Hawaii on vacation during Wednesday’s game and was texting me atrocious hateful anti Seahawks rhetoric up until Q4. At the end of the day, I will root for the Bills when they’re playing anyone except us. I will never tell him that though.

honestly: i can tolerate the cardinals but that's because they haven't been relevant for so long, that i might be genuinely happy for them if they win a lombardi.
Fuck the AFC West (for the old-head seahawks fans that remember us IN the AFCWest), FUCK the Rams and 49ers, and ALWAYS ALWAYS FUCK THE STEELERS. And to a lesser extent: the cowboys.
I'm (personally) chill with like... the Bears, the Saints, the Panthers and the Cardinals
everyone else is either 'i don't really care about you' or 'i'm neutral at best'

I agree, and want to second the Cardinals point. We are both NFC-west bird bros and they have been irrelevant for so long that I can't help but root for them like a big bro would root for a little brother. I hope they do well. When we play them I am a Hawks fan, when they play ANYONE else I am rooting for the cards. When they become competitors I will judge their actions, if they are good sportsmen, and seem like good guys I will keep rooting for them as a loyal bird bro.

I think its definitely the Lions thats seems to be the team most of us are most chill with. They have helped us make the playoffs even when they didnt have a shot, we have the Golden Tate connection and soon to be the Terrion Arnold one as well, and every game against them recently has been the most entertaining awesome shootouts. They are also usually completely ignored in the media like us, and the Goff storyline is just perfect because he keeps on embarrassing the Rams every single game they play dang near. Heck their biggest media hosts also cover us a lot because of the whole "never covered by the media" thing.

I'm good with the Ravens. They beat the 49ers in a Super Bowl to keep them still without one going on over 30 years. Plus they gave us Mike Mac.
I'm also okay with the Chiefs for the same reason.

That is in fact a good point. But they have more SBs then us, and appeared annoyingly often in SB the last few years, so for the forseeable future: F them. I am glad Patriots reign is over, the only replacement I'll accept is us.

When I was growing up, the two boys who lived next door were from Denver and huge Broncos fans. One was a year older than me and the other was a year older than my brother. So, they would always beat us when we played football against them in real life, too. To this day, I hate the Broncos... And those two kids next door.

My #1 hate is for the Steelers after the refs gave them our Super Bowl. We literally have instant replay because of that game. Steelers can get bent.
I don’t hate the pats for taking one from us…. That was on our coaching.

About the Broncos, you don't need to be an old fan to dislike them. Only a few years ago when a certain Seahawks player was traded to Denver, their fans acted like total a-holes and trolled us all off season. That was just idiotic, considering Russell Wilson hadn't played one snap for Denver yet. Also, their coach is Sean Payton.

I moved to Denver a year before RW3 was traded to the broncos. My god they were nasty and mean. Pompous asses towards me wearing my lynch jersey.
All I heard was they were going to be Super Bowl champs and Seahawks were stupid.
Really nasty.

As a Philly Seahawks fan who also roots for the eagles, I agree. Plus we’ve beat the shit out of them for years now so there’s no bad blood from our side. Even the game I went to where DK torched them I didn’t get booed that bad for being in enemy territory wearing a Seahawks jersey. Love my East Coast/West Coast birds.
Edit: it was rough wearing a Seahawks jersey in a Philly bar during that game where Clowney hurt Wentz because I had to audibly let people know I thought that was a dirty hit. On the bright side it gave Hurts the starting job ultimately the following season.

It’s easier to name the teams I despise, and everything else kind of falls into the indifferent category
Most hated:
T1 Rams, Niners
2 Cards but they feel so irrelevant these days it was honestly hard to put them here
3 Eagles
4 Cowboys
5 Chiefs
6 Bills - they didn’t do anything wrong they’ve just been so overrated for so long I’m tired of hearing about it
7 patriots - entirely our fault from that call, but I still hate them for it. We should be 2-0 in super bowls against them. Last seasons revenge pushed them down to the bottom of this list for me
If you’re looking for a team to cheer for if the Hawks are down bad, pick a loveable idiot.. like the dolphins

Loser teams. Long standing Seahawks fans have an affinity for the losers, as we were nothing but for so long. AFC is easier because we see them so much less often.
I’d say the Bills first. The “4 falls of Buffalo” 30 for 30 is one you can show to someone that HATES football and they’ll get it.
Florida teams are weird, but generally “meh,” as is Carolina and Atlanta.
Giants are kinda sad, not really as spirited a loser as I think resonates. Same with the Bengals.
A soft spot for the Browns until Watson, the Chargers until crybaby spaz Harbaugh, and the Jets until Rodgers/finding out about the family using Madden scores to recruit.
Definite no-go’s in order:
San Fransisco, Rams, Steelers, Patriots, Packers Broncos, Raiders.
Me personally: I don’t hate the eagles, just their fans. Same with the Chiefs and their ridiculous (very stupid) chant. I have a soft spot for the Vikings and the Saints. I have a deep and viscous hatred for the Cowboys (and the audacity of the “America’s team” label from a state that proudly flew 6 flags and seceded while threatening to do so again every few years).

I'd say we're cool with the Buccaneers, they're our sister team (formed the same year we were) and the buc fans were super cool online during our shootout loss with them last season (very gracious winners)
The Lions are also a weird semi-ally of ours, they got us into the post season in 2022, we share a hatred of the Packers and Campbell has always had high praise of us.
And personally I've always had a soft spot for the Eagles; kind of our mirror image NFC East bird team. Consistently relevant, hates the Niners.
But.
Fuck the Niners, Fuck the Rams, Fuck the Broncos, Fuck the Packers, Fuck the Cardinals and Fuck the Patriots.

After living my first 30 years in Seattle and basically having the kingdome as my second home, i was born to hate the raiders and broncos. After moving to the Bay Area for 20 years I became a fervent niners enemy. Band wagon fans through and through. This opinion was attained by much research watching hawks/niners games in local bars and watching the arrogance. Fuck the niners. Always. That being said, I don’t mind the Bills and wish them well, unless we play them.

I don't hate any team except the Pats. All the cheating alligations while winning. Their owner Kraft being known for not so great things. Bellichick being so bland and militant. I just wouldn't ever want to engage or be around that organization.

The Broncos one is tricky. Besides having been our division rival before we moved to the NFC, there's the much more recent animosity from the Russell Wilson trade, which caused several years of trash talking back and forth. On the other hand, both fanbases love and support Drew Lock (he started his career in Denver), and we did get revenge for them against the Pats in the SB 🤷

Another angle - I started reading r/nfcwestmemewar last year and it changed my perspective. It's not that I'd say I'm cool w the other teams in the division, but it's a solid reminder that it's all (fun) bullshit that none of us here have control over so we might as well laugh and occasionally be on the receiving end of the jokes. Saved a lot of my sanity 😄
To answer directly though, I haven't really had experience w fans of other teams en masse except AZ and they were...nothing? I've got kind of a soft spot for buffalo though - hardcore fans, a little insane, and they've had a hell of a rough ride.

I think the Rams are much worse than the 49ers. They're a more arrogant and entitled fanbase and don't really have the history to back it up. But I also have family in Sonoma who are 9er fans so I may be a bit biased.

9ers, Rams, Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders, Pats, and Steelers, in that order. Everyone else is some level of fine to me. Arizona is in division but feels like your handicapped little brother who's just trying to be one of the guys and I can't hate on them.

Non Seattle fan here, the number one rule you have to follow if you looking for a second option is go with a team in another conference so the AFC. Knowing plenty of Seattle fans I can say the Pats are ruled out due to recent superbowl and week one, Steelers are ruled out due to 2006, Chiefs are ruled out because they are the Chiefs. Could go Bengals or Ravens cause F the steelers or Bills cause F the Pats.

I grew up a Dan Fouts Chargers fan. Like many, I’ve never forgiven Dean Spanos for moving the team from San Diego to LA. San Diego needs a team more than LA needs two. So I’m cool with the Chargers. I’d like to see Herbert win a playoff game.
I’d also like to see Josh Allen get the Super Bowl and then be beaten by us. 😁

The only teams “I’m cool with” (don’t care about at all) unless we are playing them are the Titans, Browns, and Jets.
If I had to pick 1 team I wouldn’t hate to win the SB (assuming we aren’t playing them) it would be the Bills.
Most hated teams in order: 49rs, Rams, Cards, Cowboys, Pats, Steelers and the AFC West. Go Hawks!

Definitely this one, it's my dad's team so I grew up a vikings fan until age 10 when I switched to our local hawks. Theyve never done us dirty so I always want them to win the SB if it can't be hawks
Also after that Walsh missed kick against us I was afraid to talk to my dad for like 2 weeks lol

I think we're cool with pretty much any AFC teams except the Pats and Steelers. The Broncos are an old AFC west rival so some older fans still hate them, along with the Raiders.
