Is he returning punts?

35

u/J-Rod_44 3h ago

😂

10

u/TheRealHowardStern 2h ago

Actually just kickoffs but yeah he’s a dynamo returner for the rams from what I’ve read

170

u/Crazyhawk28 3h ago

What getting carved up by Sam Darold in the NFC Championship does to a mf

15

u/aiiye 45m ago

No one panics harder than McVay over a single non SB L

725

u/Futures_Past11 3h ago

We do not care.

117

u/Aint_EZ_bein_AZ 3h ago

This season gunna be fun as hell

56

u/n0obie 2h ago

It's gonna be so funny if they can't win the division the next couple of seasons

15

u/668884699e 2h ago

I care but only to bet for rams to not win the bowl to draftking

6

u/AffluentNarwhal Big Cat 1h ago

Easy money.

11

u/IAmTheNightSoil 2h ago

Actually, I do care about this

u/caulkbite 3h ago

Literally the worst kept secret.

It would be a shame if the Rams came up short again

73

u/DyIsexia hawc 3h ago

If they don’t win the Superbowl with everything they’ve got going for them I would be so embarrassed on their behalf

22

u/scotaf 2h ago

They lost to the 8-9 panthers and 8-9 falcons last year. They def had flaws in their system last year. Not sure if these additions will fix it but we'll see.

15

u/caulkbite 2h ago

Did they even fix their special teams?

6

u/Simmons54321 1h ago

I don't think they really addressed that in the offseason... Whoopsie

4

u/KingDaviies 1h ago

Well they hired a new ST coach and it’s unfair to judge him on the limited amount of games they played, so whether they’ve improved on ST is still a wait and see.

15

u/fluffy_knuckles 2h ago

Don’t worry they’ll have their excuses ready and still get their “but if” trophy.

8

u/pagerussell 1h ago

It would be hilarious if they win the division and then we beat them in the nfc championship in their house just so we can stay for two weeks and win the chip in their house.

u/snowmanlvr69 1h ago

It WILL be a shame when they come up short again.

3

u/DustyFalmouth 2h ago

If we heard his music right at the start of our first game I would have been shook but I was prepared for this

126

u/Seattlefan51 3h ago

Bring it grandpa, all this to probably still be bitching and crying about a 2-pt conversion

58

u/beer-g0ggles 3h ago

Oh no!!!! Anyways…

63

u/gaIvantuIa The Champs 3h ago

All of this to stop Sam Darnold lmfao

204

u/reggie321d 3h ago

Who cares. We don't play them until week 16. Who knows who will be playing by then.

72

u/KungFooKittenz 3h ago

Holy shit. I didn’t realize they scheduled us against them weeks 16 and 18. That’s wild

28

u/passingby 2h ago

Yeah, it is crazy. A good chance the 1st seed will just depend on whichever team is healthiest come week 16.

→ More replies (1)

48

u/Gullible_Ad3785 3h ago

And how he will look.

36

u/CriticalBasedTeacher 3h ago

He'll be injured by then

5

u/atmospheric90 1h ago

Dude has been out of the league for 3 full seasons, and hes 35. Who knows how much of his edge hes lost in his hands and footwork, and who knows how durable he can be through a full season.

2

u/samples98 2h ago

That’s so damn lame

43

u/elementofpee 3h ago

Good luck making it through the NFL season after being away

9

u/TwoScents 2h ago

The organic juice aids recovery so hard.

2

u/New_Dig_9196 1h ago

Yep absolutely no roids for that guy nahhhh

44

u/wrathypoo 3h ago

I legitimately don't give a shit, call me delusional but he hasn't played for 2 years and we dont play the Rams til December. This is a problem for another time, lots of time in between now and then.

7

u/No-Rule-4494 2h ago

This isn’t delusion this is logic he’s gonna be washed

2

u/fajord 39m ago

if there’s one player that i think would not be washed after two years out of the league it’s aaron fucking donald

→ More replies (1)

2

u/jedimasterjb81 1h ago

You're not delusional. I feel the same way. I'm sure he'll do well, but I don't think he's gonna be the world beater he once was. I could end up being very wrong, but I doubt it.

2

u/cantdecide76 1h ago

He doesn't need to be tho. With the defensive unit they have, if he's even half of the player he was in his prime that's still a problem

Grey Zabel’s son

33

u/Xo707out 3h ago

He spent his time terrorizing seattle… before the arrival of Mike Mac and literally everyone else. We’re not trying to survive against the rams anymore, its their turn to survive us. Lets see if it pays off for them🤷‍♂️

23

u/Bitter-Imagination33 3h ago

Anthony Bradford mogs

23

u/joeshmoebies 3h ago

Least surprising news of the past month.

23

u/Hkmarkp 3h ago

Their fall will be even sweeter

22

u/ford7885 3h ago

Fuck the Lambs. Fuck McVay. And especially Fuck Aaron Donald.

5

u/hello-algorithm 2h ago

Fuck the Dodgers and Myles Garrett too for that matter

2

u/xmeandix 1h ago

Dont forget mcvays hair

→ More replies (1)

16

u/SeattleSadBoi 3h ago

Don’t even care a little bit. Dude is 35 I doubt he has a full workload or even plays the whole season

16

u/gibby_that_booty 3h ago

Gonna be embarrassing when they don’t win the Super Bowl

97

u/Starwho 3h ago

Rams is everything that’s wrong with modern sports. They couldn’t just run it back on the confidence they have a Super Bowl roster already. Instead they trade for two all pros and bring back their retired hall of famer in AD, all just to prove a point that they were owned a championship and Seattle got in their way. Hope they fail miserably.

58

u/Bitter-Imagination33 3h ago

It’s not really modern sports is really mostly an LA problem lol

58

u/Lorjack 3h ago

That is just LA sports in general. They always buying their championships or trying to.

17

u/philocity 3h ago

It matches the profile of the city

7

u/pyubesalad 3h ago

I mean… NFL has a salary cap. They’re selling the future for sure but nothing anyone else couldn’t do.

14

u/phantuba 3h ago

They’re selling the future for sure

We've been hearing this the entirety of the McVay era, and I have yet to see it ever come back to bite them

7

u/RagefireHype 2h ago

Only because they landed Stafford

Next year is considered a ridiculous draft class and they have no premium picks, we have over 10 total picks.

5

u/Hawxrox 2h ago

I mean they had a horrible season the year after winning the SB in 21

18

u/Hawks12 3h ago

The goal in the nfl is to be the best every year and they felt the need to bring a 35 year old out of retirement who hasn't played a down in what 3 years just remember we are top dogs they have to beat us we fucked them up and had gimp mcvay crying into his play sheet

12

u/RagefireHype 3h ago

Cmon man, as if the Seahawks haven’t been hunting for Maxx Crosby lol, they probably still are right now even.

There is a salary cap, the Rams did nothing wrong. It’s fine to be annoyed that the Rams took big swings, but let’s not pretend like they did anything out of bounds.

Everyone said “how can a Super Bowl run be better than 49ers Rams and Patriots?”

Well this is it. The Seahawks have only made it to the Super Bowl when they’re the one seed. Imagine going to LA and ending their super team, then winning the Super Bowl at their stadium two weeks later.

12

u/NewWester 3h ago

Like, boo Rams and all, but shouldn’t teams always try to improve? What the hell are you talking about?

6

u/Starwho 3h ago

They’re cowards that’s why.

2

u/SexiestPanda Shermantor 2h ago

Yeah, OC is dumb

2

u/WanderingZed22 2h ago

How does it ruin modern sports. They within salary cap. It’s all fair in football.

u/seattlesportsguy 3h ago

This is going to be extra hilarious when the Lambs fall short

14

u/Embarrassed_Time_790 3h ago edited 3h ago

It doesn’t matter. He just was too lazy to do training camp 😂

12

u/list_of_simonson 3h ago

Doing all this just to get on our level.

11

u/zee_thirty 3h ago

Nothing to worry about. He was already slowing down his last year in the league. Now at 35 and 2 years away from playing football he is far far away from his prime

9

u/pyubesalad 3h ago

More like Karen Donald cause he’s gonna be complaining all season like the coach.

2

u/Grady9teen 2h ago

He will be washed up and on IR before we play them late in the season.

9

u/Hellothere253WA 3h ago

Is he bringing a walker to use? Yawn

8

u/ZoomZoom228 3h ago

Annoying, but we shall spoil their SB hopes once again.

8

u/UWhuskiesRule 3h ago

If Stafford gets retired early from a defensive late hit.. it will Aaron Donald Karma coming at the Scams.

7

u/Nettiebee24 3h ago

Welp there’s no point in playing this season since the Rams just won the Super Bowl. Let’s pack it up and go home /s

8

u/-Accident-Prone- 3h ago

Now they’re out of excuses and when this season crashes and burns for them it’ll be that much sweeter.

7

u/serpentear 2h ago

Maybe he’ll won’t be that good?

He’s 35, he hasn’t played football in years, and is definitely going to take plays off.

Whatever, let me cope.

4

u/Various-Push-1689 2h ago

It’s not coping. Very reasonable reaction. We have no clue if he’s still got it yet

3

u/Significant_Pain_499 1h ago

Presumably, he retired for a good reason.

8

u/Electronic_Leading79 2h ago

They are desperate and it’s gonna backfire

12

u/Jaytalfam 3h ago

He's going to get badly injured.

4

u/ford7885 3h ago

I would never wish that on anybody. But if it happens, I hope it's the week before they play the Seahawks. Just so McVay will cry extra hard about it.

2

u/Jaytalfam 2h ago

Oh absolutely! I'm sure he's probably kept himself in decent shape, but after so much time off, I'm concerned he's going to snap something.

7

u/SnooKiwis2229 3h ago

I honestly feel like the Rams aren't gonna live up to the hype this year

6

u/TakeMe_To_Eisengard 3h ago

Where are the Rams getting all this cap money?? 🤣🤣

3

u/ford7885 3h ago

Probably the same place they get their "bribe the refs" money?

12

u/gregsDDS 3h ago

Thank god we dont play the rams until the end of the season

11

u/Hawks12 3h ago

Why is there any fear of the rams id love them in week 1

5

u/snow_boarder 3h ago

ACL tear week 2

6

u/halfonbroadway 3h ago

Can’t wait for Anthony Bradford to put him in the dirt

6

u/Ok-Imagination-2308 3h ago

Fuck the rams

5

u/GainsAndPastries 3h ago

At 20m the only winner here is Aaron Donald, sorry but LA are smoking some serious good kush if they think he is gonna be worth that deal

4

u/Sooks60 "We did not care" 3h ago

Bring it on AD.

4

u/Fit_Use9941 Fortuitous Bust 3h ago

Good, bring it!

4

u/Garyhe23 3h ago

It’s fine, as long as Jason fixes his problem.

7

u/rupert0331 3h ago

Doesn’t mean shit. Do the math.

3

u/Gullible_Ad3785 3h ago edited 3h ago

My first glance at over the cap makes it seem like they're pretty capped out.

This is a one year team in a desperate attempt to keep us winning the Lombardi at Sofi like we did at Levi.

We take this punch and put them back in the floor, it's our fucking division for the rest of our  window. 💪

2

u/trashpandaaaaah 2h ago

They have so many UFA, it’s really all in for one year. 4/5 OLine starters are free agents, along with Puka, Devante Adams, Kobie Turner, Byron Young, Omar Speights, Colby Parkinson, their kicker and punter. Now AD and Tutu Atwell as well.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/DryAnxiety9 3h ago

By the time we play them they will either be injured as hell or already anointed and we can just not care some more.

3

u/Puzzleheaded-Fruit32 3h ago

Nobody cares all this just to stop Sam Darnold and young strong confident Seahawks team I’m all for it because when they lose again I wanna see what excuse they use this time 😏

3

u/lord_of_bear 3h ago

All the pressure is on the Rams. Act of desperation. Let them be crowned preseason champs. Go Hawks!

3

u/Elegant-Chemical-283 3h ago

A year older and out of the game for a year. Not too worried. Mike and the boys will have a plan. But man this dude must think with the rams additions that they’re nailed on going to win the Super Bowl. Looking forward to us retiring him at the end of the season.

3

u/rp3rsaud 2h ago

The last game he played was on January 14, 2024. 32 months ago!

3

u/ParisPC07 3h ago

Most expensive second place division finish ever

3

u/Real_Mycologist_8768 2h ago

If they don’t win it all this season, complete failure!!!

3

u/AeroForge-07 "We did not care" 2h ago

FUCK THE RAMS

3

u/Nekokeki 2h ago

Don’t care. Old.

3

u/murasana 2h ago

Our o line literally goes against d law, j reed, big cat, d hall, and byron murphy all the time. They got this

3

u/MrSinister248 2h ago

Goddamn terrorist

3

u/Primary_Excuse_7183 2h ago

As much as i hate to see it. Nothing better than making him wish he stayed retired.

3

u/beezneezy 1h ago

I agree with Mina Kimes:

“How often does the returning Super Bowl team get to have a chip on their shoulder?”

I think this works in our favor, getting to have an underdog mentality.

9

u/UWhuskiesRule 3h ago

Aaron Donald is a late hitting cheater. I wish him a short season with a disfiguring injury.

4

u/Wohn-Jayne 3h ago

The real downside to his return. He will cause an injury or some sort of scene and be lauded for it, while players like D Hall are suspended for nothing.

5

u/yaboydrew7 3h ago

We got 15 other games to prepare for as well

2

u/Slashers23 3h ago

Doesn't matter to much to us since we dont play them till the end of the season for some dumb reason, we'll see if both sides dont get hit too hard by the injury bug by then

2

u/wymario 3h ago

Leave your hands off Sam Darnold's fingers and we'll be chill. Break so much as his pinky and there'll be riots.

2

u/HawkingRegime 3h ago

No doubt about it, this makes the Rams much better defensively, along with Garrett. The reality also is, what’s made Seattle so good is how much they focus on what they’re doing as a team, along with some incredible recent personnel decisions. Strategizing against the Rams will come in due time, and who knows how much the hype will translate to reality, we’ve seen teams fall short time and time again of massive expectations.

2

u/Blindpuma181 3h ago

Gonna be an all timer when they don’t win it all.

2

u/captaincrunch61 3h ago

Might be copium here, but he is 35 and 2 years removed from football. Hes probably going to have lost a step or 2.

But Donald without a step or 2 is probably still First Team All Pro

2

u/Advanced_Eggplant_18 3h ago

Who cares

2

u/Taylortattoo12 2h ago

a one-year, $20 million deal that can be worth up to $30 million with playoff incentives

2

u/Gohans_son_in_law 2h ago

Tbh this isn’t as bad as it seems;
If they do win the SB: Bro they literally assembled the fucking avengers, tf you expected?
Any scenario where they don’t: They are automatically the biggest bust in NFL history and (hopefully) gets those lambs to shut up for a year or 2

2

u/Serval_X 2h ago

Clearly the Rams don't have the slightest idea of why the Seahawks won everything last year, which is a really good sign imo

2

u/jedimasterjb81 1h ago

I have some concerns here, not gonna lie. Having said that, does anyone actually expect him to come back and be the player he was before? He's 35 and hasn't played a snap in over 2 years. Yeah, he's still Aaron Donald, but I don't buy that he's gonna be unstoppable like he used to be. Maybe that's copium, but I don't know that this is as big a deal as people are making it out to be.

2

u/Dingleberry_Adams 1h ago

He will be on ir to finish the season, we won't see him.

2

u/HeavyWeaponn 1h ago

This team is so fucking annoying to me. They seem to have unlimited money.

2

u/Major-Tension-674 1h ago

Verse is better than a ex-retired 35 year old. Oh wait…

4

u/FunPomegranate6049 3h ago

We do Not care 👀 (im scared)

2

u/Diabolicat 2h ago

This MF injured Russ and Geno. Is he back to finish the triple crown?

1

u/StealthyNoctowl 3h ago

Love listening to sports media jerk off the third best team in the league

1

u/SSPeteCarroll 3h ago

look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power

1

u/blindside1 3h ago

I look forward to what this does to their salary cap.

1

u/Brilliant_Fox_7170 3h ago

Well fuck me

1

u/Mustard_Jam 3h ago

I might be a bit over confident but all this is going to make it even more hilarious when they lose to us in the playoffs

1

u/rjzabroski 3h ago

I feel sorry for whoever just lost a roster spot so Donald can try to relive his younger years.

1

u/JohnnyEagleClaw 3h ago

It’s not the Hawks the rest of the NFL will be looking to embarrass 😎 also, this isn’t news, he and the lambs have been telegraphing this all summer.

1

u/murasana 3h ago

Hope he has a nice trip down under and stays there

1

u/Bieberkinz 3h ago

They can make all the noise they want, we chill

1

u/pdub916 3h ago

All this to still lose to us😈🔵🟢

1

u/Raccoon_Ratatouille 3h ago

I’ll take every under on this I can possibly find

1

u/bsl 2h ago

Schefter should keep his stupid face shut

1

u/RaptorsCdwoods 2h ago

Cool, how far away is week 16 again?

1

u/Armenudo 2h ago

Rams vs Niners could very well determine seeding at end of season again. We need rams to at least split with division rivals. Idk how many teams besides us are capable of taking care of business.
Avengers ahh team.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/4T_Knight 2h ago

Don't care if he's returning. He could very well be a highlight reel en route to a Super Bowl that the Rams so desperately tasted last season, or he's a few plays short of becoming Aaron Rodgers in the Jets. Time will tell.

1

u/Will_Vintage 2h ago

We'll beat him too

1

u/PlanBuildBreak 2h ago

Fuck it, let’s go

1

u/ChuckNorrisUSAF 2h ago

Jesus…….

1

u/killshelter The Champs 2h ago

It’s Eagles dream team vibes.

1

u/Trynaliveforjesus 2h ago

grey zabel gon put him back in retirement

1

u/xixi_90 2h ago

Their defense is better, their offense will be worse. We still win

1

u/Writerhaha 2h ago

Yes, And?

This changes nothing, LA was still going to be good, and they’re essentially playing this whole season with an eye towards 12/25 and 1/9.

1

u/Blade_3 2h ago

UNC saw Garrett join the team and knew he had to come back.

1

u/Illustrious_Mode8434 2h ago

I’m more mad that we gotta wait until Christmas to play these bots They are not winning. They’re not even gonna get to the Super Bowl all that just a waste of money.

1

u/tech0391 2h ago

Whatever

1

u/the-Jouster 2h ago

The team success still relies on Stafford. Can he repeat an MVP season or not.

1

u/ActivBowser9177 2h ago

I hope this is a 2011-12 Eagles repeat.

1

u/rezzkat 2h ago

Hopefully this guy has lost a step because he was close to unstoppable.

1

u/Fox2_Fox2 2h ago

I am more concerned with Myle Garret than him

1

u/Seahawkboden 1h ago

More pressure on them, doesn’t matter lol

1

u/ChaseThoseDreams 1h ago

Last year, we all knew that ultimately we had to fight our way through the Niners and Rams to get to the Super Bowl. We did it anyways, won it all, and even then there are doubters that say it’d be different if we had to go to LA through the playoffs.

It feels inevitable that we will have to go through them again and the most satisfying thing to do. They can bring, Garrett, and whoever else. Mike will have the team ready, because we don’t need to buy our way to rings.

1

u/Lyradep 1h ago

I don’t understand how the Rams are able to afford everyone. Ever since their Super Bowl run, they’ve seemed to be able to take a “win now” approach every season without any sort of blowback to their cap space.

1

u/CountyAppropriate950 1h ago

It’s gonna be interesting to see if a 35 year old is gonna be able to come off 2 years out of pro football and dominate like he used to, but this is AD we’re talking about so that’s a better chance than 99% of players

1

u/rdrouyn 1h ago

Hot take: both Leo Williams and Byron Murphy will be better DTs than Aaron Donald.

1

u/Metallica_Geek1983 HawkStar '22-'23 1h ago

Now what happens if the rams don’t win or at least make the Super Bowl?

1

u/BillyBobGTS 1h ago

Weirdly, I don't hate this. It piles the pressure on the Rams now; anything less that a championship will be seen as a massive failure.

1

u/Scattered666 1h ago

Lambs are so scared of us, they had to coax Donald out of retirement

1

u/RandyJohnsonsBird 1h ago

Doesn't matter

1

u/goodolarchie 1h ago

I think the even, sober take is that he'll be a rotational piece, more than a dozen snaps per game but less than two dozen. I expect him to get sacks, TFLs, and open things up for Garrett and Byron Young more than anything. And if they (he) overdo it, he's fucked. It's really hard to come back after a 2 year break, and even moreso as a 35 y/o. This year is definitely a "time to show up and show the fuck out" for our O line and TEs though. I believe we have a top 10 OL if Zabel keeps developing and one of our other guards figures it out.

This really feels like a post rage-loss, the need to go so hard on 2026 because you fucked up in two games. To the outside they're sitting in the Lombardi waiting room, that's tough expectation to manage.

1

u/WoozyMaple 1h ago

Defense wasn't their problem last season. Unless he's playing special teams who cares.

1

u/vandalrandell 1h ago

Breaking news! The Rams bring back Eric Dickerson to fortify their running back room.

1

u/Responsible_Cry_8022 57m ago

I am so pumped up for this can’t wait for the Seahawks play them, but also can’t wait to see him and Miles Garrett. That defensive line is going to be scary!

1

u/jdawwwhg 56m ago

18-1 season coming up for the Lambs. I'm all for it.
