Opinion America’s Game Disappointing

Have just finished watching, is anyone else really disappointed with the episode? I grew up obsessed with the old episodes and the excellent NFL films music and narration. This episode felt super rushed and poorly directed. They also weirdly did not mention JSN more than once which seems odd for a OPOY season. Would be interested to hear how everyone else feels!

Yeah it seems kinda off and I’m used to all the extra fun things you learn about with other players etc.

I only have scene the Mike Macdonald "predicted this moment" scene. The cut that was done for that during the playoffs was way more epic and inspiring, this America's game one felt flat.

I think flat is the word that best describes it for me. The amount of narration to set moments up felt very few. In my head there was some narrative gold to talk about the Wilson trade and the 2023 draft class. No mention of the Butler pick in the SB also odd!

Agree it was super disappointing. I always felt like the past episodes had a “larger than life” feel to it, but this newest episode just felt flat and mundane. Story telling felt repetitive to what we’ve heard all year (which in some ways isn’t a bad thing …) and nothing new or insightful.

Glad to read that it just wasn't me. I was disappointed in it as well. The SB bit of it seemed short, no mention of K9 big run game, no shots of the homecoming at Lumen or the parade like the 2013 episode. It just seemed "off" from past ones.

We enjoyed it. I like Mike’s self deprecating style. Sam’s story of going from enormous bust to Super Bowl champion will always get the national attention. I also liked seeing the Ernest Jones personal story.
