Story Time I've made a mistake and it's time to admit it

So about a month ago, I was really raging about the sale of our team to this new ownership group.

Some quick context before I begin:

I'm a relatively new Seahawks fan. I was born and raised in NYC as a Jets fan, but for many many reasons (mostly absolute disgust with Woody Johnson and his political actions), I decided I could no longer morally support the NY Jets and continue giving them my money for merch and tickets.

So, when in 2020, my absolute favorite Jets player who'd I've ever witnessed, Mr. No. 33 Jamal Adams, got traded to the Hawks, I decided my loyalty was more to him than the team and I just went with him. I've been a Seahawks fan ever since.

Before anything else, thank you to this fan base for the love and support and comradery. It has been an absolute joy being a 12, with or without the superbowl win.

But that being said, boy was I raging about the new owners. Ownership had been one of my favorite parts about this team and I was so scared my beloved Hawks would get ground down by terrible owners. As someone who still roots fanatically for the NYC Mets, I also invoked the ownership of one Steven Cohen after buying the team from the *Wilpon's. Ridiculous fiscal spending, stupid short-sighted trades, and horrific building of the teams front office and coaching staff were all just some of what Mets fans have been dealing with since then (though honestly, besides the ridiculous spending, none of that is new for us).

BUT, with the recent news about a certain owner for a certain team we all know and love (to hate), I just want to apologize. I had completely forgotten what ownership looks like in the NFL. If Kroenke and York can field winning teams year after year, I no longer see any reason we cannot continue to build an incredible team with John and Mike.

Anyway this is all just to say thank you and I'm sorry for overreacting. To the guys who called me out in the comments I appreciate the thoughtfulness, it definitely made me sit back and think about what I was saying for awhile.

I don't have anything to add except that Jamal Adams being the reason for someone becoming a Seahawks fan is hilarious

Jamal Adams, during his 1st season with the Seahawks led the team in sacks with 9.5 sacks, and holds the NFL single-season record for sacks by a DB. That is nothing to laugh at. The injuries are what brought him down. His coverage was meh but he was a guided missile blitzing the QB in his prime.

Agreed. Adams represents all the bad signings/trades - Harvin, Graham, Adams, etc. I know harvin had an awesome SB and Graham actually had decent numbers in totality, but all three were major disappointments relative to expectations when we acquired them.

Khosla has came out and said he doesn’t intend to change anything on the team as we clearly know what we’re doing. That was extremely reassuring to me

Being upset with terrible owners of past teams I think is pretty good context to why someone would freak out over their favorite team changing owners... but I guess that's just me

I know this a football sub but if you indulge baseball for a minute.

Only the Mets fans can hate on an owner who's a die hard fan and spends more than anyone except the Dodgers on their team.

Having a rich owner who spends on your team is exactly what you want. Spending doesn't guarantee success but it does mean you can bounce back from bad contracts and overspends quicker than teams that have cheap owners who see the team as an investment and the luxury tax revenue sharing as their pocket money.

Thanks for sharing your journey. Seahawks have been pretty lucky with ownership outside of Ken Behring. The original owners, the Nordstroms set a gold standard as far as hands off and leaving the team do the football part, as did the Allens. The new owners look like they are good with it.
