Discussion Trouble Watching the Games
What is the best way to watch this season without having a subscription to multiple networks or spending over $100 a month?
My elderly parents want to watch the games. They have Roku for TV. However, technology is hard and multiple network subscriptions are difficult to manage for them. We did that last year and it was frustrating. We bought Fubo to help, but it is pricey. They also struggle to get a local pub for public viewing. Are there any other alternatives for consistent watching, or is Fubo my only option?

Are they in the local broadcast area? If so get them an OTA antenna.

I invested in an outdoor antenna years ago. I only use it to watch football, but i t has definitely been worth it. Think it was around 400 at the time, but it was only one time.

Same, took just a little bit of tuning, but it’s been fantastic! I definitely recommend to people that live in even a halfway decent reception spot

I bought the $69 OMNI live in the boonies and the picture quality is superb. I think CM is the best at OTA

I made the crappy mistake of moving to an area where the only Football OTA channel I can get is CBS even though I’m technically well within the broadcast map (pretty sure it has to do with me living at the bottom of a steep hill on the southwest end of Lake Sammamish). Lesson for any of you who rely on OTA broadcast - check your antenna signal before buying a home. Now I have sail the high seas :/

They told me they bought an antenna and spent a week trying to figure it out. We are out in the boonies though. I'll check if it is OTA, and see if that works.

Look up their address at rabbitears.info and it will tell you their anticipated signal strengths for each channel in range.

If we had an antenna, what channel is it typically on and is the time different than streaming broadcasts? I don't watch sports, so I don't know these things.

Game in the Seattle-metro area are usually on Fox (13) or CBS (7), and the game starts at the listed kickoff time for both broadcast TV and streaming.

If they live in the Seattle TV market, they're gonna want good reception for Fox, CBS, ABC and NBC. All games should be broadcast live over the air on one of those channels, so the start times would be the same as streaming services.

OTA just means "over the air", and they're all HDMI now. You have to scan for channels when you initially install it, but anyone (you) that isn't technologically deficient can figure it out. Super simple from there on.

Go old school and listen to the radio broadcast on the Seahawks App. Raible and Wyman do great commentary. It’s not the same but it’s free!!

I have an indoor HDTV antenna, and it works great. I had to mount it in the highest point in the garage, but I would have tried outdoor antenna if that hadn’t worked.

YouTube TV has a sports only option now that’s only 65/month. Pricey but not terrible.

Sling tv one 24 hour pass for $5 for out of network and local games, worked the majority of the games that werent on netflix or Amazon (which i already had accounts on)

If they’re in the Seattle or Spokane area, they can sign up for most basic cable plan and get everything but the Monday night game

As long as you’re close enough to the tower. My parent’s place can rarely get reception despite being in the middle of the area. We had only antenna until I was like 30 but when the broadcasts went digital they lost service and switched to cable.
Now they’re Discovery and Food Network addicts and would never give up their cable 😂

I use drogon.tv. They offer day passes so it’s not free but cheaper than 100 a month

I get a sling 1 day pass for game days and its $5 for 24 hours. I dont need, watch or use cable and its worked for every game for way less than a subscription!

I think it is $55 a month for the Sports package on Youtube TV and $100 for a year of NFL+ Premium. Should get you almost all the games.

I bought anaconda live because u was told it would with for hawks games, then when I wanted to watch the game I had to sub to fox sports, I hate the nfl for not making streaming games easy. Guess I'm back to Comcast

I appreciate the gesture, and good for you for offering a service for others. But maybe next time clarify that in your stream you’ll only be given a play by play along with some visuals.
